Yes, I *think* that is what I meant... but listening
to the M&E, I had forgotten there was a Shroeder/Foster
scene! (not having watched this episode in years)

In general, everything on my website should be at the "correct"
speed. That includes the dialog page, the music page, and the
music & effects track page. The dialog page is taken from
the American DVD's, which are not speeded up by 4%. The
music & effects tracks are actually taken from PAL broadcast
masters, but then I run them through an audio processing program
to slow them down by 4%.

To me, this difference is quite noticeable. Even when I looking at
ESP earlier today on the Carlton (PAL) DVDs, I immediately noticed
the higher pitch in Shroeder's voice. But I understand that many
people do not notice this at all, or think it's worth mentioning.

Actually, I think the PAL versions have the advantage visually,
which I why I was watching the Carlton DVDs this morning to
see if I could see a vial of fake blood. :-) The PAL versions
have an extra 100 lines of resolution (or so they say), and also
the video is "smoother". That is, each frame is unique on
PAL -- the 24 frames per second film is translated straight
to 25 frames per second video. Alternately, the NTSC versions
seen in the USA have a bit of a stutter, in that 24 frames
per second film is translated into 30 frames per second video,
and several times each second a frame is duplicated to achieve
this.

However, the 4% speedup does make people move a little faster
than they would otherwise, and the whole episode only takes
48 minutes instead of 50.
