Hello everyone,

I think I was about 13 when I first saw UFO. It was 1972 and the
Moon Landings were winding down. I'd grown up with other Gerry
Anderson shows, Supercar, Stingray, Fireball XL-5 and Thunderbirds
but this was something different. At that age I was attracted to the
action and gadgets ( and I still am to a degree), later on as I had a
chance to read the novels I became interested in the characters.

In 1977 I joined SHADO-USCC, a UFO/ Ed Bishop Fan Club that was
endorsed by Mr. Bishop and our membership cards had his signature
even. I rediscovered UFO and UFO Fandom along with Space:1999.
Although I never met Ed I always heard good things about him and was
saddened to hear about him and Michael Billington passing away.

The show still looks good after all these years and the technology
used for 1980 wasn't that far off base. I think tape based magnetic
storage was still being used in computers back then and a lot of
engineers were still using slide rules.  

It's good to be a part of the group and start reliving some good
times.
