I wouldn't call what they did with the Will Smith version of I Robot a
update. They kept the basic plot and did a complete re-write of the story which
originally was just a short story. They pretty much murdered it.
I would expect the same from a attempt to do a remake/update of UFO. But
that's just me. If you don't mind the characters being totally changed and
locations changed and special effects and explosions in place of plot development
and character development it should be fine.
