I am not in a position to use cut-and-paste to refer to the original
comments.

BUT: the fan-fiction genre known as 'slash' has no bearing or relationship
to the actors playing the characters (and writers in this genre know
this). And poorly written or not (reviews and critiques should be sent to
the authors, not the host and it's rare that smut isn't badly written)
slash represents a particular view of the CHARACTERS. If someone were
writing about Mr. Billington sleeping with Mr. Bishop - then the actors
and their families would have the right, indeed an obligation, to request
that it not be done since such an allegation, even in fiction, would be an
invasion of privacy and construed as slander.

However, Billington and Bishop DID NOT OWN the characters of Foster and
Straker. And slash (homosexual) stories concerning the UFO characters
existed long before the SHADO Library went on-line.

As to second season (series) UFO scripts expanding on a homosexual
relationship between Straker and Foster - as has been pointed out, no
scripts were written since the series was cancelled. While possible, it's
extremely unlikely that anyone was even working on story outlines for a
second season. And the issue of homosexuality would simply not be on the
radar. EVER.

As to what the original script writers were thinking while writing the
characters, only they know and chances are they don't remember - it was,
after all, a long time ago.
