That is very true; my point being is the general viewing public may perceive them as a generic collective eastern looking bad guy with no fixed ethnicity.
Just "looking" Chinese was enough to be cast as the oppressive / communist bent on world domination back then.

At the height of the Cold War obviously the Soviet Bloc provided the bulk of foreign villains but, to be fair, China was reasonably perceived to be the second most likely threat to the West at the time.



Let's face it, if the bulk of film and TV villains at the time had come from Canada or Belgium it would have seemed pretty ludicrous.
