A VERY good question!

Sure, he was awarded an MBE in 2001 (a fairly high honor in the UK), but for one of the most influential people in my young and subsequent life, AND a founder member on my "all time hero's" list... he and MANY people who made all the Anderson shows possible should be showered with the highest awards possible.

One anecdote: I do quite a bit of work in the aerospace world, and at one meeting at a VERY large US Aerospace manufacturer I mentioned I was a HUGE Anderson series fan (mentioned all the usual: UFO, Thunderbirds, Captain Scarlet, etc.) and had most of my favourites to play whenever on my laptop... Anyway, almost with no exceptions all there agreed that shows such as Thunderbirds, CS, UFO etc. were huge influences on their early lives. I was amazed by how many knew the series, episodes, plots, characters, and especially all the land, sea and space vehicles.

Many of the code names for projects have been named after Anderson characters and vehicles.

Sir Gerry Anderson sounds FAB as well... More power to your elbow, Gerry!
