i have a reference on that......in the military we were told that we were trained to be above all our petty concerns and to serve and soldier no matter what we felt or who we were with.
part of straker/paul 's life carrier would have been living that, and they would have to fight it off to remain in full characture [i mean in a real life situation]. too much might have been wiped away from an amnesia drug. in my opinion anyway, i dont know what the writers did with that.
good question though.

I've just been watching "Kill Straker!" and "The Sound of Silence" and was
wondering why Straker felt compelled to kill Foster in the former episode when
he simply could have just given him the "amnesia drug" to forget all about
SHADO. Would Foster's latent urge to kill Straker have still been lying dormant
even with this drug administration? Interesting question!
