Total Scratch build from screen caps. The problem is that to make the gun, by the mold RTV, and resin, the cost is enormous for a short production of less than ten kits. UFO has a relatively small following. I dropped the price to sell the extras, bu there will be about ten kits out there - plus mine. I intended to do a rebuild for a second version - but now that is unlikely that that will be sold as a kit.
I am building the rifles - but if this is too pricey for pistol - the cost of a rifle in a small kit run would be cost prohibitive. They will be prototype scratchbuilds only.
I paid two hundred dollars for a UFO sticker collection. I bought endless model kits - Skydiver - and the like for hundreds of dollars. When I tried to produce the kit - I thought that there would be enough interest to at least cover the materials - much less the time. I have wanted a good Shado pistol since I was a KID. So the dream of making the gun became possible.
If I could sell a hundred - the price could be $ 50.00 - If you sell ten - the cost is more expensive - and the molds only last so long. Shelf life is relatively short.
Once these are gone, they are gone. : (
My only regret is a lack of source material to get all of the details from the real prop - screen caps distort and obscure detail.
All of us Old guys are FANS of UFO - but the kids these days don't apprecaite the quality and depth of the series for the time.
I hope someone does pick up and try a UFO pistol build - maybe I will buy one from them.
What will happen - once they are gone - a get a flood of emails wanting the gun. Once these molds are retired - thats it.
I am building a couple of the first run kits just to show how cool the look finished. But those are staying in my collection.
I dropped the prices as low as they are going. I was just a fan trying to share my love of UFO with others. It is not like BANDAI helped. I have a small shop in my Garage.
Commander Staker's Forces will have to hope they do not need handguns - they are not in the budget.

Hey Harada.
Nice work.
What pistol was the prop based on?
