There where a lot of things not covered in the Original Series, that now
would be explored. Such as families, as the base can only hold so much in
the way of personnel and life support. They barely gave it a wink and a nod
in the original series. Hell, even Star Trek: Voyager gave it some
consideration before they soft pedaled it back into a dark closet to not
see the light of day again. Also what about any attempts at a mutiny to get
off the moon, unless ti was alien controlled, there was no direct conflict
between the Commander Koenig and some of the rest of the staff. There was a
lot to be said for the show that it had barely touched on and would have
made for great tv watching as the drama unfolded.
