Movies that are being currently released in 3D, were filmed in traditional
2D and converted to 3D. I also have a 3D converter that does a decent job
of converting 2d to 3d.

There is a 3D blu ray of Space: 1999 on amazon.de, but it is of suspicious
quality. I Presume it's 3D is as good as HD of UFO blu rays that could have
been bought at the same place previously, meaning it is non-existent, and I
do not have intention to try it out.
All the best,
Branko
P.S.
If anybody has UFO blu rays from Germany (Marc, looking meaningfully at you
:), can you please confirm if the encoding and compression are any better
then on the DVD's if resolution isn't? Thanks!

Thanks for that -- yes, I've certainly heard lots of negative things said
about Space:1999... there was an old Fanderson documentary that had
lots of that too (can't remember if that came from Sylvia or multiple
people).
I think she was more positive in the UFO: TIMELASH commentary
track with Wanda Ventham... :-)
And negative or positive, one thing about Sylvia is that unlike a lot
of the cast and crew, she actually seems to remember little details
about things that happened decades ago!
