UFO is probably something different to all of us, since we perceive it differently. That aside, all the books published so far lack the air and the atmosphere of the series. You would agree it is a big part of the series' appeal. I think it would be awesome to be able to project that aspect. Chris Drake's book on UFO and Space: 1999 was an interesting concept, presenting the people and events as real, but then arbitrarily inventing a lot of data and, as such, ultimately failed. Also, I presume you would agree that, wonderful as it is, Chris Bentley's book, lack of colour photos aside, wasn't perfect nor ultimate. And don't let me start on Japanese books... (I have all but Jaguar, and you parted with it without much of a regret, as I recall). Perhaps we should transfer this discussion to more private ground and really try to come up with a concept that would work. It doesn't have to be the assignment to do perfect or ultimate UFO book, but thenagain, why not? :)

Yes, I guess we would have to establish what exactly is wrong with the UFO
books that have been made already, besides them all being out of print, and
besides most of them being in Japanese.  :-)

Or more precisely, what would you do differently than what Chris Bentley
did with the Complete Guide to Gerry Anderson's UFO?

-- more quotes from the people who worked on the series (in many cases
we'd have to rely on what was said at previous conventions, since so
many of them have passed away, but one could seek out new material
    also)

-- more color photos, with an emphasis on ones that have not been
   circulating on the Internet

-- less minor trivia and details

I would assume that these photos are the property of ITV,
and would not need to be purchased from Rex.  After all, the copyright holders
provides scans of photos to people who are making licensed merchandise
(e.g., for photo galleries in DVD releases).

Although I probably own enough UFO photos right now to fully illustrate
any UFO book... :-)
