Anny(james waving to the horned helmeted one)
among the ST:TOS soap episodes you forgot to mentioned are:
The Man Trap
Charlie X
The Naked Time
Operation Annihilate(the Trek episode that is Question of Priorites but with
a Trek
happy ending)
Is There in Truth No Beauty?

And several more, which puts ST:TOS way out in front in the soap episodes.

Hey! You? Did you finish da UFO story you started?

Was just quoting from failling memory, ya know... My mind's switched gears
and is only processing UFO facts, these days!

Had that one!

Gosh! Indeed!

Voilà! And I liked it that way!

Now, can someone come up with a nice percentage?

Still working on the story Anny(want to be on the list of people to get it a
chapter at a time?)
Yes I remembered You had Operation Annihilate after I put it down but it
was worth mentioning again to show the very difference in UFO and Trek and
how they handle the same subject in a story.
I count 33 out of 78 but I might have missed a few. That's something well
over 50 % need a calulator.

UFO and its role as a cure for cancer

Anthony Caira
In reply to this post by Jonathan Andrew Sheen-2
Hi all

I haven't posted for maybe a couple of years. My old UFO friends were
Yuchtar, Marc and Suzanne to name but a few.

I probably went down in newsgroup history as one of the many that have tried
to buy Strakers car but got nowhere.

Well - I have been off group as my partner - Alison - has been suffering
with cancer. THe fight is by no means over but an interesting fact:

I recently bought the DVD collections - even though I have it all on video.

Alison - who was never really 'into ' UFO like me, now requests UFO episodes
from the DVD's whenever British TV is crap.
She even sings the theme music to me!!

This last week we watched Sub Smash and The Sound Of Silence and she was
totally attentive the whole way through.

I am really happy that my favourite series has made her happy and i wanted
to share with you folks the fact that UFO can really raise the spirits and
hasn't lost its charm - even to a ill newcomer after 30+ years of not seeing
it....moreover it can help people on the route to recovery.

What a superb series.

With all best wishes

Tony (& Alison)

Hi Tony,

Thanks for your message.

In my experience, it is sometimes much harder for those around ill people
than for those with the illness. No matter how hard one tries, it is hard
not to feel impotent to do anything really practical or profound. I know
this may sound fatuous, but I believe it's true. It is also true that when
one is ill, one takes comfort from all the things that makes one happy: ones
family, children, favourite food, TV programmes and films, places. Many of
these things stem from ones childhood, and maybe even border on the
sentimental. When I was ill in the middle 90's I used to love and sometimes
just listen to UFO, and many other things that I had 'grown up' with - I
took great comfort from doing that. I even unintentionally converted members
of my family :)

Very best wishes to yourself and to Allison's total recovery,

Griff

Hi Griff
Many thanks for the well wishes. Great to meet you on SHADO!

I totally agree with you. For most of us - our childhood is a 'happy time'
that we can retreat to when we're feeling stressed/I'll under pressure.

I'm 37 and some people find it strange that our lounge is full with Gerry
Anderson memorabilia - Thunderbirds toys, Captain Scarlet figures and
models, and of Course UFO Dinky Toys.

People just dismiss this as childishness, but its not really - to me and my
partner it makes our home a warmer and more unique place - somewhere we can
retreat to:)

I'm glad to hear you got well from your illness in the mid 90's and its
great to hear from you!

Hope we can chat more soon
All best wishes
Tony & Alison
