Thanks for the URL Mark. It was a delight to read. I'm glad I bought the
set! I've also have a full set of video tapes for years, and I must say the DVD's are easier on the eyes to watch. I'm disappointed that this reviewer didn't have even one 5 out of 5 rated episode though!! As a die-hard UFO fan for thirty years, I have to say there are several 5 out of 5 episodes in my eyes. Which ones?

Kill Straker, for one.
MindBender, for another. I have my personal faves that admitedly have some problems that would probably keep it from getting a 5/5, but those two seem pretty durned perfect to me! :-) -- Y Anthony D wrote: > Which ones? -- =+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+= Yuchtar zantai-Klaan | [hidden email] I am not a number! I would have thought that A QUESTION OF PRIORITIES would have merited a "5 out of 5" rating. But perhaps that's just me... Marc |

It's not just you, Marc. This guy states his only previous UFO
experience was with the Dinky toys, so its obvious his first pass on watching the show was not focused on studying the characters. AQOP is definitely a 5 out of 5. Yikes Anthony! Which ones mentioned in the review aren't a 5 out of 5 would
be easier to answer. I'm not sure you really want my opinion , but I'd say "Exposed" and "Conflict" are definitely a 5; "A Question of Priorities" still tears my heart out to watch...an obvious 5; "Court Martial" and "Closeup" offer what I think is really important insight into human interaction in SHADO. Hmmm, yes, Exposed is great, QOP, obviously, and I've always enjoyed
Court Martial immensely ... Conflict is a great character ep, but has some technical problems and Close Up is just stupid, in my opinion. (I know the gus like that one for the close up of Gabby's leg - LOL) -- Y "Veres, Mary" wrote: > > Yikes Anthony! Which ones mentioned in the review aren't a 5 out of 5 would > be easier to answer. I see the quality of "Close Up" in the interaction between Gay Ellis and
Straker. The apparent friction between them sparks my curiousity. Is it territorialism or chemistry? I think we are lead to believe it could be either! Excellent observation Mary!!
...I think I tend to lean toward the territorialism (for want of a better word). As far as 5 out of 5 episodes in season one goes... My list is: Identified Computer Affair Exposed The Dalotek Affair A Question of Priorities The Responsibility Seat Court Marshal Close Up I rate them on the entertainment value... and the emotions that I (still) experience every time I watch the episode. I don't give a 'dead rats arse' about the technical accuracy or minor plot errors. I don't consider there to be a bad episode amongst the season one titles!! They are all (still) good to watch... again and again!! Hi All :)
I have to agree with your choices Jaime. At the risk of repeating myself, I do prefer the first production block of episodes - I really love their sinister ascetic, cleanliness and austereness, compared to some of the more 'wacky' second series episodes. I of course love 'UFO' and everything about it, I just think the initial 'batch' of episodes have a quality that is somehow lost in the second - although their are some gems in the second. My episode choice is practically identical, except for the inclusion of Sub Smash, Conflict, I find choosing a preference amongst UFO episodes rather like choosing ones favourite sons and daughters - they're all 5's or at least 4's... I can 'just about' remember UFO when it first appeared, and I was hooked (if not besotted) as were all my 'chums' at school. I think it's great that there is such a wonderful amount of interest and material in series now. At one point it was just about impossible to get any information connected with the series. Re Conflict, I especially like the short scene where Straker is seen lying back planning his strategy, and is seen stubbing out the cigar almost signifying that he has arrived at a solution. Great Stuff! Someone queried whether Miss Ealand knew what she was looking for. I think it is obvious that Straker had taken her into his confidence, and that she was instructed to look out for Sky 1, and that was the signal that Straker relied on to initiate his reaction plan. I always liked the trusting, professional relationship between Straker and Miss Ealand - there is a certain indefinable quality there. Which is odd really, as I often find Klingons in my underpants.
