I bought UFO on DVD yesterday and I have to comment
that after watching 'Identified' I found Peter Gordeno's performance very wooden. It just goes to show that when you cast non-actors in TV series these are SOMETIMES the results you get. I appreciate that the acting is 'of it's time' & that a lot of acting around that time was similar, I just felt there wasn't any differentation of his character in any of the scenes he appeared in. However, the opening scene featuring Peter, Leila & Jean (who played Jean & also what part did Michael Caine's wife Shakira play in the series? I read in an interview with Harry Baird that she appeared in UFO) is a CLASSIC & Peter should feel proud in knowing that his contribution to that scene makes it work excellently! I think Michael Billington was better as Foster & to me the series didn't really kick into gear until 'Exposed' & I thought the better episodes in the series were generally those that gave Foster a bigger role than others. She is the moonbase operative undressing behind the mirror and is also the waitress in the restaurant in "The Dalotek Affair," I think. Gerry Anderson says on his commentary that he's always been afraid of meeting Michael Caine because he thinks might punch him for the changing scene. I read in an interview with Harry Baird that She was a nameless SHADO op, wasn't she? Seems we had a hunt for her a while back. She played the woman who was to marry Sean Connery in the film, "The Man Who Would Be King" too - kind of got dragged into that role, as they needed someone and Michael Caine kind of turned to his wife with a "Oh, honey ....." - LOL! << She is the moonbase operative undressing behind the mirror and is also the waitress in the restaurant in "The Dalotek Affair," I think. Gerry Anderson says on his commentary that he's always been afraid of meeting Michael Caine because he thinks might punch him for the changing scene. Brian >> ROFL! Ah, Michael Caine is a good sport. He says in his autobiography that shortly after moving to a new house a new neighbor showed up and was pleased to find a good English gentleman had moved in, as the neighborhood was being overrun by "darkies." Shakira walked by and the guy assumed she was a servant and Caine was quite pleased to introduce the neighbor to his WIFE. The guy blanched and ran away - LOL! (They met because Caine saw her in a TV commercial and fell in love with her) Okay, way off-topic, I know ... > she appeared in UFO) is a CLASSIC & Peter should feel > proud in knowing that his contribution to that scene > makes it work excellently! > I think Michael Billington was better as Foster & to > me the series didn't really kick into gear until > 'Exposed' & I thought the better episodes in the > series were generally those that gave Foster a bigger > role than others. <wistful siiiiiiiiiiiiiigh> He's soooooooo adorable. 8-) -- Y -- =+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+= Yuchtar zantai-Klaan | [hidden email] I am not a number! Gee if Gerry would be in trouble with Michael Caine for having Shakira in
that dressing scene then that photographer who got her to pose topless years ago is a dead man! Actual she did some nude scenes for The Man Who Would Be King too with Sean Connery that later got cut from the film and haven't been restored so it lucky for everyone Michael is understanding.
