I just wanted to drop Marc Martin a note of thanks for the work he did on
the Barry Gray music of the Week page. While he was doing it it was a page I checked EVERY SATURDAY without fail for new files. I enjoyed just about every file there Marc and as a parent and a music educator it became a valuable resource for me. Next time I teach secondary music (I'm assigned to an LD type elementary program and a Secondary DD program this year so I probably really can't do this type of lesson) (LD= Learning Disable, DD = Developmentally Disabled) I plan on doing a Barry Gray lesson because the man wrote terrific music for children! And like the great classic composers he never wrote down to kids, something that made his work on Fireball and Thunderbirds wonderful. The greatest thing about the page and about Barry's music in general is that I know/knew so little about it. While I was growing up I knew I liked all the music I heard on Thunderbirds, UFO and Space 1999. Now after hearing him on the Fanderson tape (A Tribute to Barry Gray), the music on the page and other online resources (You know who you are!) every unheard piece, every new fact about Barry adds to the enjoyment and respect for the man and his career. It's important to keep this music available and in the public eye because its a treasure. My children love his music especially (As I've said before) the main UFO theme, The Joe 90 Theme, the Thunderbirds March and The Thunderbird 6 music. Marc I owe you many thanks for the weekly posts of music on the page and I appreciate the work that went into it! I'm sorry it had to go on hold but fannish activity should never be a burden, it should be fun! Have a great time at the C21 convention! I want to see pictures! Marc, I owe you a couple of letters anyway and hopefully I will have time to write them this weekend. |

I've gotten many nice e-mails about the Barry Gray page in the last few weeks, so I'm glad to see that it was much appreciated! It was certainly one of the more popular areas on my UFO website, with some tracks being downloaded over 1000 times! Hopefully we'll see more commercial/Fanderson CD releases of Barry Gray music in the future. I see that Fanderson's excellent Space:1999 Year One soundtrack CD is now "out of print" :-( -- Marc Martin, [hidden email] |

>I'm sorry it had to go on hold but fannish activity should never be a burden, >it should be fun! I guess I should point out that my decision to discontinue the Barry Gray Music of the Week site had nothing to do with it being a burden -- there were a number of factors involved, most significantly the new 250 MB limitation on disk space from Yahoo, but also a lack of free time & energy due to chronic health problems, plus a desire to refocus on the website's main subject -- UFO! And BTW, before anyone gets too concerned about my health, I should say that I think I will be able to recover, but it will probably take several more months (and I know I said the same thing months ago...) Basically, I'm the victim of modern medicine -- too many antibiotics and steroid nasal sprays have left me with a fungus overgrowth in my sinuses & ears and a depressed immune system, so I'm exhausted a lot and often feel like I'm about to catch a cold. However, I find that I improve dramatically in low humidity environments, so I am actually looking forward to my 11 hour plane trip to Birmingham England!! -- Marc Martin, [hidden email] |

Besides, the weather forecast (for what it's worth) looks pretty good to me: http://weather.yahoo.com/forecast/Coventry_UK_c.html -- Marc Martin, [hidden email] |
