Cards Inc. UFO Cards

Does anyone else in the group collect these? Or is anyone in the group
especially knowledgeable regarding them?

Well, I suppose that depends on what you want to know! I have a
complete set... as UFO cards go, they are not as impressive
as the Fanderson set.

Re: Cards Inc. UFO Cards

First off, thanks to both you and Steve Christensen for replying to my query. Here's the deal:

I recently purchased a second Stuart Myres Alien autograph card (yes, I know the story behind these) from a seller on ebay. It arrived today in the mail. In addition to the Stuart Myres card, I was also sent a 'freebie' Mike Trim autograph card, SANS autograph. I received a Mike Trim card w/autograph in my UFO binder, but what's the deal with this card with no autograph? Did Cards Inc. throw unsigned cards into random packs?

My initial reaction was one of excitement, thinking that while this card may not be worth much, it might be relatively rare. Anybody have any insights regarding this?

Jeff

I don't know... I have never heard of un-autographed "autograph" cards
being sent out. However, although these might be rare, I'm not sure
that
they would be *valuable* to anyone... I think most people value
the autograph, not the card! (?)

Re: Cards Inc. UFO Cards

Thanks for the response, Marc! Seems to pretty much mirror my thoughts. I also finally thought (DUH!) to ask for the input of a card guy (Jeff Allender). Here was his response:

I haven't seen one, but this sort of thing isn't unusual. Quite
possibly Cards Inc. printed up plenty of the cards, then scaled
back on the number of albums they produced (MY edit: they only came with the UFO card binder), had Mike only sign
the number they planned to use. Also, the card printing run
usually is up to 20% bigger than the amount they plan to use
because some cards can get damaged during manufacturing.

Occasionally even today you'll see auctions where Strictly Ink
is selling unsigned versions of some autograph cards on eBay,
and I've even bought a few of them myself. Often such cards
are destroyed, but sometimes the company will include them
as a bonus to dealers, much like a promo card would be included
in a package.

These cards sometimes have a decent value if it's an item that
was supposed to be in the set but was never issued, but we know
that there Trim signed enough for the albums. I would tend to
assume that the unsigned card would be worth about what a scarce
promo card would be worth, maybe $3-$5. But you never know.
You could contact Collector Zone and find out if they have an
opinion, but it probably wouldn't give much enlightenment. ;-)

At least you will have added this report to the 'checklist lore'
and we can make everybody jealous if they don't have this card
for their master set! (Me, I thought I had a master set except
for the Ventham auto. ...)

Cheers,

Jeff

Hello. I live in Italy and I'm a collector of "UFO Cards Inc.".
I need:
- UFO AUTOGRAPH card WANDA VENTHAM;
- UFO Graham Bleathman Sketch cards.
Can anyone sell me them?
Many thanks.
