Hey all,
As I do every year, I went to the San Diego Comic-Con. Everyone who loves Sci-Fi show make at least one trip to it! It's a world unto its own!! I went to Anthony's Mike Trim panel. It had a decent attendance given it's late Friday night timeslot. A slideshow of some of the photos in the book was given with discussion by Anthony, Rob Burnett, Jeff Bond and Greg Jein. It seemed to me that many people recognized the art/subjects but weren't aware that Mike Trim was the artist who conceptualized the ideas. I was concerned that the layout of the book would be funky/hokey, there would be a poor balance of text (story) to pictures or not enough color pictures, but I needn't have worried as it looks fabulous. The balance of text/photos was just right, descriptive text that puts you right there with Mike as he designed the craft and plenty of color photos!! Also, having Greg Jein there was an added bonus for me!! He's *the* man when it comes to building models!! I later spoke with Anthony Sunday afternoon and he sold out of all the books they had at the con!! No other UFO items to note at the con. I did see a UFO Disc 2 CD that said 'A Limited Archival Release' that I'd never seen before, and I figure it's bootleg of something else that was put out. I was lucky enough to pick up the only 'clean' version of a Mobile, which matches my name btw :-) Dan |

Also, as Dan reported to me privately, there are about 15 pages in this Mike Trim book devoted to UFO, so it sounds like something that some of "must have"! Marc |

Thanks for the good review, Dan! Please write one for the book at Amazon.com! The panel was lots of fun, and we did videotape it so it might be available at some point in the future. My publisher shipped over a decent amount of hardcovers and trade paperbacks for the show, but we did indeed sell out at about 2 p.m. on Saturday. The rest of the books are in transit from the printer in China and should be shipping out sometime in the next three weeks or so. For anyone planning on attending Fanderson's Sector 25 convention in October, Mike has donated an original piece of art to be auctioned for charity. More info at Fanderson's website and http:// www.miketrimart.com AT On Jul 24, 2006, at 8:55 PM, comeinmobile2 wrote: > Hey all, > > As I do every year, I went to the San Diego Comic-Con. heard on the radio this am, that there was a fire in the studios where they just finished making the latest james bond movie. I think they film these at Pinewood, the same place where they filmed the later episodes of UFO.

It was the 007 stage where they were dismantling the sets from the
latest Bond film... As mentioned by Chris it was the 007 Albert R Broccoli Stage - the largest
at Pinewood. It's effectively just a large corrugated iron warehouse. It was built in 1976 for The Spy Who Loved Me - so it's a long time after UFO filmed there. It burnt down during the filming of Legend with Tom Cruise in 1984, but was rebuilt in time for filming on A View to a Kill the following year. Talk is that the Bond people want to film the next movie there from August next year - so Pinewood will have to rebuild. >From: "Marc Martin" <[hidden email]> >Reply-To: [hidden email] >To: [hidden email] >Subject: Re: [SHADO] fire at pinewood studios? >Date: Tue, 01 Aug 2006 10:04:49 -0700 > > > http://www.timesonline.co.uk/section/0,,29809,00.html > > and then enter search keyword: Pinewood. > > The Timelash reddish roofs can briefly be noticed. > >So which building at Pinewood burned down/collapsed? >Was it one of the buildings where UFO was filmed? > >Marc |

Hello I've just heard the news that Patrick Allen (Timelash) has died. He appeared in many British TV and film productions. http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0020876/ |
