I should point out that there are two Lazenbyland members. A british
one(me) and an american(the one who has posted recently. I introduced the american Lazenbyland to the show and as you can see, its proved to be a big hit! Lazenbyland (UK) |

In the beginning of that episode after the collision of the ufo and the interceptor--wasn't it Alec Freeman who incinuated that possibly something wasgoing on--especially before they launced when Gay Ellis gave Mark Bradley his helmet and wished him good luck?Thats when Col.Freeman gave them-particularly Lt.Ellis a look.Thats how I percieved that.Enlighten me more to helpme gain more insight on this. What's a Lazenbyland?.... Perhaps this is has already been covered and a big "Duh" question, but is the episode Psychobombs missing the introduction sequence? I recently bought the UFO megaset and have been rewatching an episode a night, and thoroughly enjoying the clear video quality and smooth action. It is nice to be able to stop frame and slow motion. I can discover a lot of new details about things I've never noticed before. On a media format like this, you can basically rerun and microanalyse any detail and plot occurance without harming your player device. Last night I noticed I couldn't find the opening music & montage for Psychobombs....Is that normal or is that a flaw in my DVD set? Presumably the episodes were running long, and this was a way to get an extra minute of story. There is nothing wrong with your DVDs -- this is how they originally aired. > I can discover a lot > of new details about things I've never noticed before. Heh, heh... wait till you see the HDTV versions... :-) Marc |

Yes, Freeman does give a bit of a look in that scene, as if Lt. Ellis is paying too much attention to Mark Bradley. However, all she said was "Good Luck, Mark", which doesn't seem out of line... Hi All :)
Firstly, Happy New Year and Health, Wealth and Happiness to you all. Sorry I haven't visited the list much over the last year, it's been due to prolonged illness.... Anyway, if you check out the original script for "Computer Affair" or "The Computer Affair" as it was originally named) available for viewing on Marc's fantastic UFO website, the original script gives more depth into the relationship between Gay Ellis (in the original script Ellis' character was called Paula Harris) and Mark Bradley. Also, more detail as to how the interceptor came about being destroyed and the circumstances around it... DEFINITELY worth reading if this area of Computer Affair has always puzzled you. Also, if you read the UFO Novel "UFO 2" by John Burke (AKA Robert Miall), he went into more background still. I know for a fact (I discussed the novels with Tony Barwick at one of the conventions) that both the novels were written by John Burke with direct access to the scripts and Tony Barwick made suggestions and even edited some of the text (mainly technical references and areas). Also, Gerry Anderson had a say as well. Both the novels had to be 'signed off' by Gerry Anderson's production company. So, it is safe to say that both the novels can be regarded as 'canon' if that is the right word in this context. In this instance, read between pages 8 and 11. Or if you don't have the novels, comment, and I will quote ALL the relevant text. E.G. Quote: Freeman thinking to himself... "Lieutenant Ellis and Astronaut Bradley: oh, decidedly not in the rule book." Perhaps annoyingly, except for the references in Computer Affair, nothing else is stated other than at the end of the program where we see Ellis and Bradley at the 'SHADO local' restaurant having a meal, obviously things progressed once they both realized the computers were right and they did have feelings for eachother... Best to all :) Griff > Perhaps a point that isn't in the script is that Freeman knows Lt. > Ellis, and might think of her as being a bit aloof, and that "Good > luck, Mark" seems oddly out of character for her; that, as well as > her apparent "hesitation" when telling the interceptor pilots what > co-ordinates they should use to escape from the oncoming UFO whic > results in one of the interceptors being destroyed, could make him > think that something's going on. She also gave Mark his helmet and didn't wish the other two(Lew Waterman and the other Astronaut)any good wishes. So there would definitely be a incinuation there.
