DVD news

bel3762001

Hey there!

I was just checking my account with Deep Discount and according to
them they shipped out my STINGRAY set on the 26th! Woohoo!

Also, I was checking the upcoming DVD listings with the music/video
distributor that the store I work for uses and they are listing a
February 25, 2003 release date for a five disc set of FIREBALL XL-5!
Has anyone else heard anything about this?

I'd heard that they were working on it, but I didn't know it
was coming out so soon!

I just checked back at DDDvd and they are listing the FIREBALL set up for
preorder ($53.17). Man, they don't even have UFO set 2 up yet!

Re: DVD news (STINGRAY problem)

Well, I got the STINGRAY set in the mail yesterday and started to
watch only to realize that the first episode has all the characters
talking as if they have inhaled helium and the action at times seemed
speeded up.

I recall someone here discussing this having something to do with the
transfer from PAL to NTSC (or something to that effect). I ran
through scenes on every other episode and the first one seems to be
the only one where it really stands out.

Thoughts?

Hmmmm, someone must have messed up during the PAL to NTSC conversion
of this episode. It's strange that this would only happen on the
first episode. You could complain, but I doubt that A&E would
do anything about it. Speeding up episodes is so commonplace
on television, that they probably don't consider it an "error".

Marc (hoping that UFO Set 2 doesn't suffer from the same problem)

Now that you mention it, the credits on more than the first episode seem a
bit speeded up. I don't think you can tell from the music, but Marineville
sure seems to move pretty quickly when it's being lowered below the ground.

Brian (also hoping that UFO Set 2 doesn't suffer from the same problem)
