Hi,
In Chris Drake's book he gives 10 July 1940 as Ed Straker's birthdate, making him a Cancer. If the UFO episodes were supposed to be happening in 1985, that would make Straker 45, which seems too old to me. If it was supposed to be 1980 (which I always thought was the date), then that means he is 40 which is somewhat more plausible. Yours, Steve (an admittedly youthful-looking 42, about to turn 43!) |

It actually makes him 35 10 years before when he was fighting to get SHADO built. A 35 year old Colonel is somewhat rare, wouldn't you think? Actually, 1940 is too young. Straker is shown to be a full USAF Colonel ten
years prior (1970) at age 30 and that's not possible by USAF rules. BTW, I live with a Cancer and I guarantee Straker ain't no Moonchild. Personally, I think Straker fits the Scorpio profile. He's a loner, he's a
hard-ass, he's obsessively dedicated to SHADO, he has practically NO friends, he's a mystery man with tons of secrets and he screwed up his family life. No offense to you Scorps out there, but he fits the more difficult profile to a Tee. I can dig it, y'know? Pam |

I think to the your words as compliments (also for Straker). -- Angelo Finamore -- |

Ummmm, I agree, it's highly unlikely - but I really don't think there is an actual RULE against someone making Colonel at age 30. Tiger, who was in the USAF, doesn't recall any such rule ....... It's not so much a rule as the requirement for minimum time in grade. When
added up, even on the fast track (absolute minimums) the minimum age is about 32. << BTW, I live with a Cancer and I guarantee Straker ain't no Moonchild. Deborah >> Deborah, didn't you create biographies for the main characters and allocate Straker a birthdate which made him a Capricorn? Capricorn general traits (no pun intended) seem to fit Straker best, I think. I have a longtime Capricorn friend who definitely shares similar characteristics. She founded and runs her own very successful company and there are definite similarities in behaviour both at work and in her personal life. Of course, the whole astrology thing is total cr... (I'm Aries... what else would I think?!?!) Also... welcome Elaine, welcome Denise. Denise, please write more UFOfiction... I love your Straker. Of course, I suppose you do too! Which is why it works so well. Carly :-D _______________________________________________________ Get 100% private, FREE email for life from Excite UK Visit http://inbox.excite.co.uk/ |
hey now,
i would have thought that it was obvious who was the scorp at SHADO? Paul Foster of course.he's the one without the friends,Ed has got alec to make him whole like a good gemini would.Paul goes it alone. And then the charachter of j.bond is also a scorp and remember who was asked to stand by for that role?He seems quite confident sexually, unlike Ed who fumbled the ball on his two occasions with the ladies that we have seen so far.Deborah suggested capricorn.Or maybe a taurus they are known as the best looking members of the zodiac and are driven individuals esp when they have a 'bone' to chew.Capapble of huge feats of persistence thats how he wore down foster in Kill Straker, remember? With those baby blues he'd have to be a water sign. mere speculation but ... chris |

I made Paul an Aries with a Scorpio ascendant.
I've done astrology and feel I can state definitively that is has the same validity as any other form of personality analysis and psychology in general - they only work in retrospect. Attempts to make predictions based on any of them automatically becomes a self-fullfilling prophecy.
