Fanderson UFO Soundtrack News Updated

Hi all,

Fanderson has updated their FAB NEWS page:

http://www.fanderson.org.uk/news.html

And with it, the UFO soundtrack CD news has been updated. It appears
that the only change is that they've added a few episodes to their
list of episodes the music is from. Before, I think there were 10
episodes. Now there are 13:

"Identified, Exposed, Survival, Conflict, Ordeal, A Question Of
Priorities, The Square Triangle, E.S.P., Confetti Check A-O.K., The
Sound Of Silence, The Cat With Ten Lives, The Psychobombs and The
Long Sleep"

The new episodes are Sound of Silence, The Cat With Ten Lives, and Psychobombs.

Hope this is not out of line, and if so, please forgive and ignore...

I would love to get the new UFO CD, but cannot afford to pay both for
the CD and the Fanderson membership fee. I am looking for someone
that can get an extra CD and sell it to me. Obviously, I will pay for
the cost of the CD and related shipping costs. If interested, please
reply to [hidden email] . I will greatly appreciate it! Thanks!

This isn't out of line, not at all!

I asked Fanderson what their policies are towards this sort
of thing. Firstly, they *of course* would rather that people
join the club in addition to purchasing the CD, because the money
raised from club memberships help provide the capital to
produce these sorts of items. Also, Fanderson is limited by their
contracts with the copyright holders to only sell to club members. By
encouraging the sale to non-club members they risk not being allowed to
produce any more such products in the future.

That said, Fanderson *does* typically allow club members to purchase two
or three copies of particular item, as conceivably a single club member
could actually have a use for a few copies. For example, a backup copy
or a copy for a friend.

Any more than two or three copies will likely not be allowed, as people
who want to purchase this many copies are likely the sorts of folk who
will be selling them for $150 each on eBay.

I'm sure Nick will correct me if I've made any mistakes in the above
statements.... :-) He tells me that there have already been 200 copies
of the UFO soundtrack CD pre-ordered! I don't know how many copies they
are limited to selling by the copyright holders, but I think the number
was about 1000 on the long sold-out Space:1999 Year One CD.

I was planing on joining fananderson so I could get the CD and some
other stuff, then I checked the exchange rate (British pounds to US
dollars). I don't think I'll be making any purchaes from England any
time soon.

I looked on ebay, but all I find are unathorized CDs which I'm not
interested in.

I've been buying things from Fanderson for over a decade, and the
exchange rate now (US$1.60 = 1 pound) seems pretty typical. I've seen it
worse (US$1.90), and I've seen it better (US$1.45), but right now it seems
about average.

If it's anything like the past Fanderson CD releases, the Fanderson
CDs which will show up on eBay will be selling for MORE than the cost
of a Fanderson membership plus the CD. Look for them to be selling
for US$100 - US$150. Compare that to about US$95 for buying it
straight from Fanderson with a year's membership included.

I agree with Marc, waiting on eBay will be a poor option.

a] Only limited number will ever appear on eBay, perhaps a odd one or
two.

b] If they do appear on eBay, the price will be horrendous - well over
a $100

It should be remembered when you join Fanderson you do actually get
something other than chance to buy thier merchandise. In my opinion is
worth the money.

The Lunadude.

I'm used to buying stuff from Japan where 2000 yen is less than $20.
So the discovery that 27 pounds is the equivelent of $43.20 was a
shock to me.

Does fananderson ever reissue out of stock items? I'd like to get the
Space: 1999 season 1 CD (same composer as UFO). I don't like season
2's music so I'm not interested in that CD.

No they don't, but there is a rumor that Silva Screens may be issuing a 1 disc
Space:1999 Year 1 CD.

I don't think Fanderson can sell any more Space:1999 Year One CD's
because they sold the amount of copies they were limited to by the
copyright holders.

But like Anthony said, Silva Screen is planning a Space:1999 Year One
CD release. They are working on a Captain Scarlet soundtrack right
now, and I think Space:1999 might be next. However, I suspect the
Silva Screen release will only have a single disc, which means it
won't be nearly as good (I found that some of my favorite material on
the Fanderson two-disc release was the non Barry Gray library music,
which is the stuff which will most likely be eliminated to fit it
onto a single disc).

I imagine UFO will have a similar single disc Silva Screen release,
but I suspect that this won't happen until the Fanderson release is
long sold out.
