So how about everyone's fave piece of SHADO hardware? Mine has always
been Skydiver. The best shots of this I think can be seen in THE PSYCHOBOMBS. Anyone else???? |

I was always kind of partial to the moon transport ships (even if they do look like fish-heads on the front. Love it when they show them docking/departing the aircraft in the atmosphere!) Probably because of the "Conflict" episode. That one had some good Straker/Henderson moments in it too. "You've gone TOO far this time Straker!" "Ah yes - Henderson!" Good stuff! Ken |

I kind of like those too, although I think they look more like a trilobite than a fish-head (or, for a non-extinct equivalent, the horseshoe crab). As far as the carrier aircraft goes... Thunderbird 2, anyone?! - It even has a massive "2" emblazoned on the tail-fin! You never know, I might just make a small mpeg movie, replacing the UFO incidental music with a touch of the TB equivalent.. :) BTW, that (audio) music clip of Ed. Bishop performing on the track "Chiki-Chiki" for the group "Baby Ford" that Christian sent me should be appearing soon (maybe tonight), now I've got my home systems back in order. They (we?) did many years ago - it was called HOTOL (HOrizontal Take Off, Landing) and had hybrid jet/rocket engines designed to work in the rarefied atmosphere at high altitudes. The usual problems in the UK, though - no investment to speak of in the space business.. -- Rob |

But it wasn't multi-stage as far as I know. |

Which reminds me - Paul, how are you doing with your SID animations? Did I miss one or is the last animation you did the one from October 99? Hard to say... (no pun intended) Because I like the design of Skydiver, of Straker's car, the Moonmobiles and the Moonbase. And of course SID. And not to forget the Mobiles. And the UFO (but that's not a SHADO hardware :-) The airplane which can verticaly lift-off in "Ordeal" is great! Uuuuh! Must see another UFO ep! CU C. <Christian getting withdrawal syndrom> |
