Subject: FW: Sylvia Anderson, 1999 and UFO rare promotional footage
I went to Cult TV's annual convention last weekend in which Sylvia Anderson was the guest of honour. She was given a lifetime achievement award for her work to British television and she talked about the shows she produced when she was with Gerry Anderson.
It was clear from her talk that Martin Landau and Barbara Bain were not her choice for the lead roles in Space 1999, however she seemed to have a lot more affection for UFO.
At the awards ceremony on Saturday night Sylvia Aanderson was heralded out on stage with 2 ladies in full UFO Moon Base costume dancing around the stage -
they were joined later by a leggy model who was drop-dead lovely.
I know that there are some UFO fans out there - on the Sunday before Sylvia spoke on stage we saw some footage of her being interviewed around 1969.This footage contained scenes Antonia Ellis, in full Moon Base costume, jumping in and out of cars, choosing clothes in clothes shops - as Sylvia talked about how she believed we would be dressing in the future. Does this interview 'ring a bell' with anyone?
