Not that this answers your question, but I dont believe the surviving members or their next of kin own the rights to the Beatles song catalog. What was known as the 'Beatles Catalog' was owned by the late Michael Jackson and he might have borrowed against its worth.

read what I said, not what you think I said. I didn't say they wont pay royalties, just correcting you by saying the surviving members and the next of kin of the dead ones don't receive royalties since maybe they don't own the rights anymore.

I think Sony own all the Beatles catalogue now, along with all the Monty Python TV shows. I'd love to know how much the BBC got for the series.
