It would have to be speculation -- the interior of a UFO was never
shown, other than the abduction scene in THE CAT WITH TEN LIVES...
and you can't really see anything in that.

ORDEAL doesn't count, as that was just a dream.  :-)

i thought that about ordeal, that was pauls impressons, not even from an alien experience, but from heat exhaustion due to alchohol. so theres nothing on that.........
the cat with ten lives? i have to review that episode.
i will submit a drawing to my photos, and i would like some feedback on what you think about that, since i am trying to make a fictional diorama of the interior, i would want to make it acceptable to the fan base, so any suggestions about it would be appreciated.
thank you.

Jim,
That sounds great!  I'm very visual, considering that I'm a writer, so anything you come up with would at least give me a basic set to work from.  As you may have noticed from 'Zugzwang', I don't do a lot of description of UFO interiors.  'Maneuvers' in the Conover Saga told more, but not by much!  I'd love to see a seriously thought out mock-up.  Go for it!

Greetings, all --

The e-mails I received were not harassing at all.  The person just wanted to know why my 'take' on Straker is what it is, and the ensuing discussion led me to believe that my initial comment(s) had either been misworded or misinterpreted.

On the topic of the new UFO movie, as far as I know, there's been no advance in casting, most particularly not for Straker.  I certainly hope they take the time to find an actor who can bring the pathos to the role that Ed Bishop exuded.

Thanks to all for the replies, and for letting me know that my writing is comprehensible.  (c;,'

     Have a great morning --

Jamie

PS -- I do occasionally write fanfic, but I don't consider myself familiar enough with the series to do any of the characters justice.

We got it.  In fact, I was thrilled with your image of him as the loneliest man on Earth.  It was so true, after all.  It's always lonely at the top.
>

Jamie,
That's good to know.  There are some fans who think that if you don't see things the way they do, then you must be wrong.  It can get very annoying, when the truth was, many shared your view of Straker.

>      On the topic of the new UFO movie, as far as I know, there's been no advance in casting, most particularly not for Straker.

Actually, Foster and Lake have been cast, which leads one to believe that this is going to be a 'Paul Foster' movie, not a 'Straker' movie.  Which really sucks.

> PS -- I do occasionally write fanfic, but I don't consider myself familiar enough with the series to do any of the characters justice.

So, what fandom do you like to write for?  If you don't want to get in trouble with Marc for off-topic stuff, feel free to write me at my personal email addy.  I'd love to read your work.  We writers enjoy reading well-written stories.

RE: interior of a ufo

.

i agree.
i think all that has been shown are 2 aliens in one ufo.
also i think there is something where they hadnt taken off yet, and the abducted human was not in green fluid, yet restrained, maybe dead. im not sure. maybe they just didnt fill the tube yet or something.

Jim,

Like Marc said, you will have to speculate. Thinking about
these questions should help calculate how much space is needed,
if not the layout:

How many aliens do we have evidence of travelling in one craft?

When they abduct, how many humans do we see them take?

Do they put abducted humans in green liquid filled suits, or
in green liquid filled cylinders etc?

Presumably, they'd also need a control panel and a view screen.

Also room to store weapons, portable transmitter & "weird stuff"! :)

The size of UFOs always seemeed to vary.....  perhaps they had different ones!  As for the interiors, we know so little about the aliens that you could actually create anything as the interior of the crafts.

Perhaps the aliens as we see them are simply 'controlled' by the 'real' aliens inside the ships, perhaps there is no need for control panels or viewscreens.. ESP and psychokinetics are used instead!

As for why they came to Earth.. well if they wanted organs, why did they shoot people!!  That is one of the fascinating ( and annoying!) things about UFO. The aliens were very inconsistent; organ transplants, brain transplants, abducting people, mind control, not to mention animal control!

No wonder SHADO couldn't defeat them.  But it made a great television series!

Re: interior of a ufo

.
i know the alien that sho at moon base used a metal projectile to break the window, and kill foster's friend.
but as far as the other shots thier rifles emit, it might not be a ball of lead that enters the size of a pencil thickness, and exits the size of a grapefruit. it might be something else that kills or stuns and doesnt destroy the list of needed organs. also there might be settings as with stun prods we use on cattle, one to move and guide and one that will kill.
i know they look splattered when shot. but you are right, why would they waste the organs?
and i also agree that the aliens might be ''ghosts'' or psytronic entities and need humans as hosts, and keep them around until they just wear out because of our memories and learning per unit. infact, kill straker and other episodes suggest that very strongly.
so, a host alien inside the ship, dummy red suits just sitting there with dead bodies in green liquid storage tubes, might just be correct.
the fascinating thing about this is that we just dont know and its fun to guess!

Did they?

It seemed to me that the UFO's were always "supposed to be" exactly
the same size, and that any apparent variation was probably a
shortcoming/inconsistency of the special effects.

Of course, there are only a few moments in the series when we have any
thing to compare the UFO's size with -- in FLIGHT PATH, when the UFO
flies over Roper's car, in ESP, when the UFO crashes into Croxley's house,
and in REFLECTIONS IN THE WATER, when the UFO leave behind a mark
on the floor in the underwater dome (any others?).

there is a hatch on the model of the ufo that is 5-6 feet tall, between the struts and panels.
i would assume that the scale is between 25-30 feet wide and about 20 feet tall.
