ok, i had to post it, in my photos album here at this site.
it is the last pic named;''ufo hatch''
right click on it , save as, and then open with your view and enlarge that highlighted area and you will clearly see a dark hatch like hole. if you want the model from the show pic i can dig that up and post it too.

"CONFETTI CHECK A-OK." What a great episode. I wish Susanne Neve had appeared in
more episodes of "UFO" because she's brilliant!!!

Hi. Just a quick note.
First, agreeing on everything that has been said about Straker's "loneliest man
on Earth" comments; enjoyed the character breakdown and analysis.

I will write later in more depth but have just watched "Journey".. for the
first time possibly since 1993 on dvd. If you know the film (which incs a heavy
cast list of UFO regulars) then pay attention to the non UFO regular, EUROSEC's
Head, Jason Webb (Patrick Wymark). He is a precursor of Cmd Straker if ever I
saw one. He is quite stubbon, hardlined and sometimes callous when he needs to
get what he wants from people; he is a colder and more detached character than
any of the cast and makes Cmd Straker look human and approachable.

I think I need to clarify my stance on this. I've received e-mails offlist
enquiring as to why my take on Straker is what it is.

Understand, I'm NOT calling Straker soulless, friendless or uncaring. In fact,
the problem, if you wish to call it such, is that he cares almost TOO much; look

at the task he's been charged to carry out. That proves that he's a caring man.

It's apparent to me now that I didn't word my post correctly. The comment I
made about Straker being possibly the loneliest man on Earth is the crux of it.
He's a human being who has hopes and aspirations with the best of us, but he's
chosen to safeguard us as a species, and in order to do that, he has to maintain

a certain level of detachment from those under his command. There's every real
possibility that each time he scrambles an Interceptor, Sky 1 or a Mobile may
well be the time he sends them to their deaths. He has to go against the
(human) nature of wanting to befriend the people he works with in order to do
his job effectively.

Straker, especially as portrayed by Ed Bishop, conceals the anguish of his
position in juxtaposition with his nature with extreme gravitas. He can't
afford to be seen as 'weak' in a moment of crisis, as he's got an entire complex

under his command, yet his facial expressions betray him constantly (to us, the
viewers) as to the agony and gravity of his role as the decision maker.

You know, when you said "see this album", I thought it was going to be a link to the inside of ELO's album Out of the Blue (on vinyl, big fold out double album... *sigh* CDs have much to answer for).

i wanted to say that after watching subsmash, i think that would be a good movie device, to make, at least 80% of a new movie, could be the plot of subsmash. maybe the very first episode ufo stuff, and then subsmash, with a ufo attack on the sub, and the a really weird ending like in the last episode where time is all distorted and they have to shoot the ufo down with a bazooka at shado hq. just an idea.

Re: interior of a ufo

In reply to this post by Anthony Appleyard
well, so far we got donor cans, a green globe light, guns with two settings and some kind of equipment boxes, from what the shows display. i am watching the cat with ten lives right now, waiting for a ride to show up...
a silicate life form, might emit light instead of a voice, and even penatrate or infest a carbon flesh unit. since crystals can assimulate and emit light, and vibrations even up to gamma rays and radio beams, it is possible that it could develope as a life form that shoots out a beam of light as part of its self, and need hosts as tools.
the smaller ufos might be one way missions, suicide bombers.....
while the larger ones are mission orientated and bring back donor cans stacked like firewood. i wonder why they waste some and take over others? is there an unsuitability charactaristic? some kind of immediate rejection factor? alien red guys land, scan and decide who to take and for what and who to waste immediately based on instant rejection of thier infestation?

If you like Suzanne Neve, you should seek out the DVD for "Portrait
of a Lady", which not only stars Suzanne Neve, but also has Ed Bishop
interacting with her in ways that are surprisingly similar to Mr.
and Mrs. Straker in CONFETTI CHECK A-OK!

Re: ufo ALIENS and what they are

Pam McCaughey-2
In reply to this post by .
I know there has been discussion for some time about "what" the aliens are; hosts for another type of life form, etc. In fact I just read one really good definition just posted by someone else about a non-humanoid lifeform and what they could be etc. And while I know something in the series eventually pointed that way, I have felt it was too confusing when it came to writing UFO fanfic. I opted for the earlier opinion that the UFO aliens were plundering for body parts (and I added whatever natural resources they could cabbage - i.e. minerals, et al). I've placed around 35 fanfic stories on the Library using that premise. However, I would not be adversed to seeing a really well done fanfic using the other POV. I think the idea of some other type of life form using humanoids for hosts could be posited. maybe it would even make the aliens and their mission on earth even more of an enigma. Any takers? Did she appear in anyother series in this fine era of TV fantasy?

"Journey"  / UFO actor count so far:

Ed Bishop, as a NASA Rep

George Sewell, as EUROSEC Internal Security guy hard man (Hmmm, where have I seen that before?)

Keith Alexander, err, as a EUROSEC Comms Director (are we finding a pattern here?)

Norma Ronald, as unamed secretary to EUROSEC Director Jason Webb (you get the picture)

Vladek Sheybal, as a EUROSEC Psychologist, no, not typecsaing at all..

I also spotted Nicolas Courtney (The Brigadier) from DW on a monitor screen.

Re: interior of a ufo / size if UFO

pyschobomb
In reply to this post by Marc Martin
Glad someone else spotted that. In Reflections (one of my all time top five ) the UFO mark left in the dome is too small; yet as one crashes into the side of Croxely's house it is significantly larger; either that or he lives in a very small house. I remember Paul (I think) saying  in Reflections something about smaller UFOS using it as a base for short journeys or something like that; I don't know, I'm just babling but point taken.

Did they?

It seemed to me that the UFO's were always "supposed to be" exactly

the same size, and that any apparent variation was probably a

shortcoming/inconsistency of the special effects.

Of course, there are only a few moments in the series when we have any

thing to compare the UFO's size with -- in FLIGHT PATH, when the UFO

flies over Roper's car, in ESP, when the UFO crashes into Croxley's house,

and in REFLECTIONS IN THE WATER, when the UFO leave behind a mark

on the floor in the underwater dome (any others?).
