Marc, please lobby them hard to release it all no matter how many CD's it takes! PLEASE! No one can possibly expect us to choose... we want it all. If not on audio CD then on the web or maybe a CD-quality MP3 CDRom.

Wouldn't all of the music get remastered and re-recorded when those DVDs get produced anyway? If so, other than the cost of actually pressing more audio CDs what expenses would there be in making 2 or 3 CDs? I think any of us would pay the price to get it all.

Well, I can't lobby for something that I don't personally agree with... :-)

In *my opinion*, releasing *all* of the music in UFO would be a *mistake*.
I know people who claim to have *all* of the music from UFO, and it
apparently takes up *six* CD's. And of that, there are numerous pieces
which are very similar to each other. For example, most of the music
in PSYCHOBOMBS is a variation on one or two different themes, each
with a
slightly different mix to it. I think there is a proper balance to
obtain -- you want it to be "complete", yet you don't want it to be
so utterly complete that it becomes boring to listen to. I think
2 or 3 CD's is probably the best option...

Personally I think that 3 CDs is probably over the top!
I realise that there are some people with a completist bent
who will want everything, but I'd imagine that they are in the
minority. I could be wrong .. but in any case, those people
will most likely get what they want when the DVDs come out.

My personal choice would be for a single CD .. I'm sure 80
minutes would be more than enough for most people.

Maybe there could be a 'special edition' issue with a second
CD with extras for people who want more. Or maybe it could
be released in instalments - Vol 1, Vol 2, Vol 3 perhaps -
with the importance/interest level decreasing with each new
release so those of us who only want the best stuff can just
buy Vol 1.

Just a thought..

Yes, I like that idea too -- the music from "The Prisoner"
was released that way, with the best stuff on Volume 1,
the more obscure stuff on Volume 2, and the really
obscure stuff on Volume 3. I love all 3 of those CD's,
and it's great because sometimes I just feel like listening
to the main themes, and other times I like the weirder stuff...

And then, what about the outtakes? I'm sure there's about
30 minutes of music that was recorded for use on UFO, but
never was actually used. Rumor has it that the original
try at the main theme & incidental music was recorded,
rejected, and rescored. And I believe that the original
versions *do* still exist.

It's a real shame that half the music (the first half)
of THE LONG SLEEP was erased, though... :-( :-(

Hey, this would work for me! It would satisfy those who wanted "the hits" and also satisfy people like me who would love to have a complete set of everything. (... but then I'd also like to have each track of the multi-track master recordings as a separate digital file if I could get it. So I could re-mix stuff too!)

I think issuing the material in a staged series of CDs would be a very equitable solution.
