Gerry Anderson Passes away at age 83

Silver Scorpion
It is with a heavy heart that I post this news about Gerry Anderson who had
died today at the age of 83 after suffering from Alzheimers.  I knew Gerry
from my years with FANDERSON and it is very sad news.  RIP Gerry, and thanks
for the memories.

I agree. Sad news though in a way I am glad he doesn't have to put up with this wretched disease any longer.

Every christmas I think about younger days when I had the Thunderbirds toys for christmas (I'm in my forties). In fact I was just recalling on christmas eve receiving the Dinky Fab 1 from my Grandma. Just brilliant! A car with SIX wheels.

Now I am a chartered engineer working on some of the biggest transport projects on the planet.

But having Gerry Anderson as an engineering inspiration, our stuff is still aspiring to the dreams that he presented.

A great man, and I think a great visionary of a positive future.

A long round of applause.

Most saddened by the news. Gerry was unable to make the Windsor 10k walk for Alzheimer's in October due to his taking a bad turn during that week. I hope wherever he is now, that he's free of that cruel debilitation.

...and later in the evening, they had Shane on the News Channel although it's not on the iPlayer. The Radio 4 clip should be, however; what time was it, Steven?

I haven't been able to put my thoughts regarding Gerry's death online yet, although I do think it's poignant that we've lost a number of heroes who came to prominence in the 60's & 70's like Neil Armstrong, the actor Clive Dunn, Sir Patrick Moore & now Gerry.

I think it was morning around 0800 onwards as the show starts I think at 0700 and goes onto 9.
