Gerry must be getting on now is there anyone taking all his expertise forward ? He's spent his life working with puppet and model animation and inthe case of UFO... successfully combining real life action with model animation. I think the format still has huge potential but with the credit crunch, it might be hard to get the TV studios to back a new project. _________________________________________________________________ Beyond Hotmail see what else you can do with Windows Live. http://clk.atdmt.com/UKM/go/134665375/direct/01/ [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] |

Derek Meddings did the effects, Barry Gray did the music, Tony Barwick wrote the scripts, etc. And many of these people have already passed away. Also, these days, puppet and model animation has become obsolete (except for the TEAM AMERICA movie) -- everyone is doing computer animation these days. Marc |

I know there was a CGI remake of Captain Scarlet a couple of years ago (2005) which I think he was at least partly involved it.

Yes, Gerry was in charge of that, but like I said before, without the talented people he had working for him in the 1960's, these newer productions just don't have the same "magic" to them (although certainly some people liked this new series) Marc |

Wow 80 years old !
Gerry has got so much to look back on with his long career in TV and animation would n't mind betting he's still got a few projects on the go too ! If my memory serves it all goes back to "Torchy the Battery Boy" ... and a few very early TV programmes like that... To most of the UK it was just light, television entertainment but Gerry ... like a magician ..... saw the potential of the medium! |
