Hi, I've enjoyed monitoring the debate my original question sturred.
I've been dealing with some tough issues in my life, and have been too exausted to participate. Pam has a lot to say, and I agree with her. I don't think the spirit of UFO is gone. Stephen |

Look folks, if the ST fans could literally lobby to keep the show on the air
for one last year (1969), get a NASA space shuttle prototype named the "Enterprise" and contribute to the release of ST movies and three new TV incarnations, than there is hope for UFO fans too. I've often wondered if part of the probs in getting a UFO2 has been because the show was originally created and produced in the UK. American fans of ST are indeed rabid. They waged letter campaigns, they went to rallies and cons, they inundated Paramount with their NEED for more Trek in every way possible. And, they did it in the thousands. Does UFO require a groundswell of fan letters/e-mails, marches to get ITC and SOMEONE interested in doing a revised series? And, is it indeed ITC we should be going after? If not them, then who? As Suzanne Sutherland just wrote, "Keep the dream alive." What can we do proactively to make her words reality? If an attempt in 1996 failed, what are the chances funding could be found NOW? How do we approach the film-maker who originally wanted to do an updated series? Do we take the idea away from ITC and the UK entirely and do it with an Aussie set-up, in Canada, where? There must be something we can do. Star Trek was back on the big screen only 10 yrs after it left the small screen (1979). It's been 30 yrs since UFO ended. What has taken so long? Should we be e-mailing/lettering "to death" the poor Aussie chap who started the movement in '96? The Australian chap you mention is called Albert Hastings. He used to be on fab-UFO but unsubscribed months ago. He now lives in San Francisco. Before he left, he sent me his first draft for the script of UFO2 but without the ending which he could not find. If you wish to get in touch with him, you can find him at [hidden email] I hope this helps. If there is anything more you wish me to do you only need to ask. Many thanks, -- Suzanne Sutherland La Grande |
