It's interesting to note that computer data paranoia
is still with us. We still have problems today in relying totally on computer data. As the old saying goes "garbage in, garbage out". If the data is flawed, the analysis is flawed. Complete reliance on computer generated analysis where humans are concerned is never a good idea. <g> Of course, there are those who feel the computer is infallible .. who are just a wrong as those who want nothing to do with the machines. The whole race thing was difficult in that ep. Even in 1970 when I watched it the first time, that bit rang wrong. It was too 1960's in flavor, or skinhead in flavor if you're looking at today, and unless Schroeder was looking for a reactiong to that overt racist hostility, it should never have been voiced. (And the Dr. would not probably have been working for SHADO in the first place <g>) Mind you, sometimes writers err in their extrapolations and think current time instead of future time, even with guidelines. Good analysis. Enjoyed it muchly. Agree that the alien's shriek in this is eerie and disturbing, especially since one was beginning to suspect the alien's could not speak ... the sudden breaking of the silence was a very telling moment. Mind you, why Straker seemed to think they could speak English is beyond me ......... (strange forshadowing of things like Stargate where they always speak English? LOL) Sounds like the changes in the script hurt the show more than they helped, although I've always liked the banter between Alec and the ladies, not professional, perhaps, but given the stresses of their situation, understandable. And given the era of production, covert operatives were always on the make ... when they had time for operations is sometimes a mystery .... LOL enough rambling dragon __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo! Mail has the best spam protection around http://mail.yahoo.com |

Invasion UFO would have probably been better if Reflections in the Water had been left right out. But as it ended in a "spectacular" battle between the UFOs and some of SHADO's vehicles I suppose they had to include it to make the "movie" more of a "movie". As it was, it was a bad jump from one set of characters to another, the only connections between both sets being Cmmdr Straker and possibly Ayshea. Suddenly Alec Freeman disappears and Virginia Lake takes his place; also the crew of Skydiver are replaced! If they had used more footage from Identified and Computer Affair it would have worked as a movie.
