Hi all,
Amazingly, ITV is releasing a new UFO DVD set, in the UK. Now available for ordering on Amazon.uk: https://www.amazon.co.uk/UFO-Series-1-2-DVD/dp/B07D2Q6332/ I have no idea what this contains, or if this is exactly the same as the old Carlton UFO DVDs with new packaging. Marc |

![]() Admittedly the front cover design is dramatic and eye-catching. However, who's going to buy it? Obsessive collectors and those who don't yet own a Bluray player I suppose. At £19.99, it's not too bad for all 26 episodes but I can't yet see the attraction! |

As an obsessive collector, I have already bought it, and it has already shipped. :-)
But at the moment, I have no idea what transfer this is, what extras, etc. |

Apparently it's nearly out of stock on Amazon (six sets left) and it came out on May 1st! I can't warrant a rebuy I'm afraid! The Carlton sets are as good as it's going to get!

The more I look at the box illustration, the more I like it. They seem to have confused the Alien escape pod with an actual UFO, but never mind. I shall probably buy it eventually, but not until it's come down in price to about a tenner! It's probably good value for those who didn't want to spend extortionate amounts on the Blurays (although even they can be bought now at a reasonable price).

I see from the DHL tracking that my new DVD set has made it's way from London to Los Angeles... now just needs to make it to Seattle... (although by then maybe we'll have seen a review from a UK fan)

Okay, I've got the new ITV UFO DVD set. Judging from disc 1, the contents are exactly the same as the 2002 Carlton DVD set. Right down to it still saying "Carlton" when you first put the disc in the player. There are 8 discs (as before), they are PAL region 2 (as before). The only thing that's different here is the case, the outer sleeve, and the disc labels.

Looks like they have the typical spindles of nowadays too, rather than the press studs of the Carlton sets and the First series of Space 1999 as released by Network in 2005!

Wonder what the point was of re-releasing them after Network brought out the Blu-Rays? (Not that I've got them as I like my original set from 2002)

Yeah, uptake of Blu-Ray players has been very slow. Every time I buy a Blu-Ray disc in a store, the person behind the counter asks
me if I know it’s a Blu-Ray and if I’m sure! Cheers, Rob From: Marc Martin [via SHADO] [mailto:ml+[hidden email]]

Apart from the prices being dearer, the Blu-Rays have had problems too! Certain Hammer Horror discs have had too dark a colour on them as well as lip sync trouble and pixellation effects requiring the producer to either refund the buyers or exchange the sets with corrected versions!
