Idea for future incorporation - Stealth Blimp

tryder4000
To All With Good Imaginations:

While I was out of town, a friend of mine in AZ told me that he
finally saw the goverment's "Stealth Blimp" with some co-workers,
while working over several nights. It was descibed as looking more
like a large black rounded triangle with about 5 (they think) fan
props to propel it. Finally, it was lit up light a X-mas tree.
Apparently, this is now a local and well known "Secret Project" in
AZ & NV. When they told the people in the area about it, half of
them apparently had stories and pictures! Apparently, no one has any
good photos of the Blimp as it can be seen for miles in the Desert
at night.

My question is, would Ed Straker ever invest in anything this ood?
If so would they advertise like the Good Year Blimp?

PS - My friend isn't crazy, (he has a borring job & about three
degrees) - he was just disapointed they the story was not such a big
deal.

Re: Idea for future incorporation - Stealth Blimp

I don't know about the feasibility of stealth blimps in SHADO except
for detection but I can certainly envision a cute cartoon for it.
Something like: Straker in the foreground with a dour frown and in
the background a UFO flying by and one of the blimps sputtering in
circles like a punctured balloon and making the `PPPPPP' sound. The
comment could read maybe "Surely the boys in research can do better
than this" or something suitably Straker-ish and disparaging.

UFOs, underwater, alien invasion in a new TV series?

Clay
CBS is trying to cash in on the supernatural and scifi bug this next
season. It looks as if the story line picks some elements from UFO. I
usually have to cover football games on Friday nights during the fall.
So, I may have to tape it.

The CBS Release:
THRESHOLD (Friday, 9:00 PM EST) stars Carla Gugino ("Sin City"),
Charles S. Dutton ("Something the Lord Made"), Brian Van Holt ("House
of Wax"), Robert Patrick Benedict ("Felicity") and Brent Spiner ("The
Aviator") in a suspenseful drama about a team of experts who are
assembled when the U.S. Navy makes a chilling discovery: an extra
terrestrial craft has landed in the mid-Atlantic Ocean. Dr. Molly Anne
Caffrey (Gugino) is a government contingency analyst whose job is to
devise response plans for worst-case scenarios. When her plan called
THRESHOLD is activated upon the news of the UFO, she and her
hand-picked team of eclectic specialists get to work deciphering the
intention of the craft and preparing for the possibility of a crisis
situation -- an alien invasion. Brannon Braga ("Enterprise"), David
Heyman ("Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban") and David Goyer
("Blade: Trinity") are executive producers for Paramount Network
Television.

"So remember, when you're feeling very small and insecure,
How amazingly unlikely is your birth,
And pray that there's intelligent life somewhere up in space,
'Cause there's bugger all down here on Earth."

How about a long drawn out version of "Sphere". Do you know how many episodes are being done? Is it ongoing series or tv movie? Thank you for the information. One of the things that made the UFO's scary for me was all the stories in the tabloids about secret underground UFO bases. I could just see our aliens laying wait as ships explode or disappear for mysterious reasons. After the accidents the organs might be water logged but they might have had technology to make use of the organs. Freeze dried liver anyone. LOL.

It'll be an on-going series. I don't know how many episodes, but the
way Hollywood works nowadays, I doubt if it's a full slate (22
episodes). So maybe around 13 episodes or so.

I thought of "Sphere" too when I first read it, but the craft in
"Sphere" was ours (US Air Force I think). However, it was from the
future.

Thank you clay. It sounds promising. Sometimes I think there are no more original ideas left out there. MIB took alot of inspiration from UFO(maybe). I would like to see a series where a crew from earth investigate a World Ship like Rama. Half the series would be exploring the ship and the other half would be going on missions for the ship. The ship kidnaps the crew and forces them to go on missions. So some episodes would be the exploreres finding ways to out think a ship . I know I am combineing different aspects of UFO and Space 1999. But I can dream can't I.

Re: UFOs, underwater, alien invasion in a new TV series?

that does sound pretty cool. I came up with a few ideas for a sci-fi
plot that involved a living ship "kidnapping" a crew to assist it.
There were a few twists to it though...

Clay

PS: While I like the MIB films, I've always thought that the MIB
behaved more like the agents in the Matrix films (based on eyewitness
accounts).

I was spooked when "Farscape" came out because they always referred to Moiya as a living ship. My Worldship kidnaps the crew instead of the crew kidnapping the ship. Andromeda is close but the crew was drafted into service by Dylan. UFO gave me alot of nightmares about kidnapping and the taking of body parts. Reminds me of "Communion" only they let you go. Also reminds me of the urban legend of the kidney removal and the note left in the ice. Call 911 before you die!

Sounds like a cross between 2001's HAL and Lexx's living ship "the
Lexx".

Wasn't there a quarter of a second of SID's time unaccounted for in the
Miall books where they suspected him of writing a novel?

Sorry, I have gotten behind with my message reading.
Without seeing a picture or illustration of the stealth
blimp, any sketch I do would probably be nothing like it.
Would a normal blimp do?
I only have two more (new) cartoons for the present, so
this one should be finished to go on in three weeks time.
I can add a few extra elements to the cartoon, if you
don't mind me doing it that way.

A cartoon for this would be great. Be sure you get a nice sour frown
for Straker. <gigle>

There are two very different pictures here on this hungarian site that
give you a rough estimate of what it could look like. The lower one
is closer to what they are building (but you didn't hear it from me).
I tried to send the images to you directly but your account bounced. :(

Thanks for the info, very interesting design, with a good angle
as it would be seen by Straker.
Sorry about the email bouncing.
Something went wrong with my Yahoo account a few years ago and when
it was re set-up the email settings must have changed.
I will do a few versions as an outline only and place them in
the files section. You can choose which one you want to go with
and I will then complete it. These may be a bit rough, but will
give something for you to go by.
I will give you the link when they are ready.

...actually, I meant that more as a smart-alecky little jest but by gum, it works! Great job on the entire thing and I'm quite honored you found that to be an appropriate caption. Merry Christmas all! And yep, still here, just been really busy with the band.

Thanks for the kind words,Mark, although I might get into
trouble with this week's offering.
Although I do get legal advice from my sister to make sure
these cartoons are not too sexist.
