I looked it up in the "Gerry Anderson Memorabelia Guide", because it didn't look familiar. It says that it was made in 1970, has a spring-activated missile, a friction motor drive (???), and is 230 mm in length. It has a photo of it which is consistent with the photo on the eBay ad. I'd say that this item is rather rare... especially still in it's original container. Marc |

Thanks Marc for the info. If was a lot cheaper I would have made a bid on it just for it's novelty value. It's got to be the naffest Interceptor model, I have ever since. Speaking of Interceptor's why did Dinky decide to issue grren Interceptor's instead on white. Were afraid they might get dirty ? Unfortunately, mine came to its demise when it was thrown off by my little brother from a roof of 14 floor tower block! From what was left of it you could say it had been attacked by 20 Ufo's!! From > what was left of it you could say it had been attacked by 20 Ufo's!! > This question was the subject of my (historic) first post to fab-ufo, as this list was then called, nearly 6 years ago :) It seems that bright colours were used for the Dinky Interceptor (and the Space 1999 Eagles) because the researchers thought that children would find them more desirable. I still have my metallic green Interceptor and was highly disappointed not to be able to find an authentic-looking one. I think the researchers got it wrong - kids wanted something that looked exactly like the Interceptors from the TV programme. I don't doubt that if I'd never seen the programme, I'd have found the green one more interesting, but I think most of the kids who wanted one were UFO fans who wanted a white one. |
I agree with James.

There is always at least one Dinky interceptor for sale on eBay that's been repainted to white. Follow this link to the best one I've ever seen. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3597050553&category=563 34 If I wasn't waiting for the Product Enterprise interceptor I'd think seriously about this one! Yes, the guy did a great job on both of these. The mobile especially looks fantastic. Hopefully Product Enterprise will look at one of these too if the Inerceptor and Skydiver sell well.

I couldn't get the link to the mobile to work, but the interceptor
looked great. I was just looking up some odds and ends on eBay and found this: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ViewItem&item=3597346751&category=56334#ebayphotohosting Wild. Hi All, Bandai were well known to make not only kitsets but also toys and
diecasts, this interceptor is just another one of their toys. Re the sale itself, why did the seller spend 18 months to get it just to sell it?, bugger me if I spend 18 months getting a LS 1/24 Lamborghini Slihouette Racing 3000 kitset, you can bet it ain't for resale, I realy wonder about some ebayers motives and techniques of selling........wayne Invers NZ........ |

Hi all, looking at the rest of the sellers items, I would rather not buy
from this person, is he a fan of the show or just some person making money?......regards wayne Invers NZ....... |

Unfortunately, I have seen taht Product Enterprise's Interceptor has been
moved back form june release to september release. Skydiver to october :( Cards Inc cards are not out yet... Why do we UFO fans always have to suffer these postponements? And Thunderbirds fans got 4 different waves of Konami figures, while all we had to go (apart from first wave of UFO figures) is differently clothed Lt Ellis, instead of full new wave with Shado Jeep, Straker's car, Fosters car, Seagull X ray, Albatross, Shadair Kingfisher Helicopter, Ground Defence Vehicle, B142 Space probe, Deep Space Probe, Shadair Moblie Transporter, Moonmobile, Sovatek Mobile rig, UFO limpet, UFO variation from Sub Smash... Enough for at least two more waves, isn't it? :) All the best, Branko _________________________________________________________________ Protect your PC - get McAfee.com VirusScan Online http://clinic.mcafee.com/clinic/ibuy/campaign.asp?cid=3963 |
