This show was as much a part of my life as any other event. A good
friend of mine who to this day I have yet to have been able to find after our last school reunion use to live by this show. Boy am I telling on my age, lol. We not only were fans of the show it inspired our artistic talents as well. We had made almost an entire comic book of this show and half way through it's development someone stole it. It was really great work. Anyone ever felt this shop should have been reborn? After all they brought back (ahem) Thuderbirds in a movie. |
Lee, A month ago there were rumours of a new UFO series. I havent seen the latest information.. They said it was more like the invaders tv show than UFO. bsl

While I wouldn't mind seeing a UFO movie, after fiascos like the recent so-called Thunderbirds movie, perhaps they shouldn't bother. You'll only get some interfering nobody making a complete muck-up of it.
having said that, perhaps it should be made by Harlington-Straker Productions? Lee <[hidden email]> wrote: This show was as much a part of my life as any other event. Mmm... Not sure about that either...
He he... According to Alec Freeman (in one of the novels) Harlington-Straker Film Studios specialised in making really terrible movies! After all how doyou justify making a profit in military estimates? No. I hope they don't make a new UFO movie. After the original series they broke the mould. Any attempt at a remake now would never be the same. If they 'have' to do something, at least make it a next generation. That way no original characters are blemished, and there is enough separation so that in case it's terrible it doesn't tarnish or undermine the wonderful original. Also, UFO was conceived as a TV production; it was built up over a number of episodes. A single movie would have to cram in the introduction to the characters, a new plot, and undoubtedly someone would have to win in a movie context... In the original sinister and questioning original, many of these questions were left to the viewer, and because UFO lives as much in the minds of the viewer, it is that and the unresolved questions it raises, is the thingthat has fascinated and haunted me ever since I saw the original. "If it ain't broke, don't fix it!" The Harlington Straker Idea is a good one.
Not seen the Thunderbirds movie yet, but according to my 12 year old son who has seen it, the puppets are better. Hopefully, if this idea is taken up, then maybe the producers would learn from the mistakes made by the Thunderbirds team. Mike Kelsey --------------------------------- ALL-NEW Yahoo! The way I see it, the next generation would work, as it did with Star Trek.
The only thing I can really say is, KEEP ED STRAKER!!!!! Mike Kelsey --------------------------------- ALL-NEW Yahoo! Messenger - all new features - even more fun! [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] |

Indeed, the TB movie might as well have been a cartoon. I can understand general audiences, but gessh! Talk about childish to the point of making me cry! Even B Sci-fi movies where better than this. |

I don't have a digi-camera, I'll see if I can borrow one. UNCL [the manufacturer] have a good reputation - so the signs are hopeful.
