What are Carlton playing at?! There
was so much negative feedback over
the UFO digipaks that they dropped
plans for similar packaging for THE
PROTECTORS. Now they come up with
this monstrosity for JOE 90! They
must have memories like

I actually think that looks quite cool. I also think that having the
UFO sets in the form of a digipak was a master stroke on Carltons,
part in my humble opinion it adds a touch of class. Carlton
should be applauded for this attention detail. I just think bunging
the DVD's into keep case and having a cheapo slipcase and calling it a
boxed set,is not good enough as it does not differentiate enough from
the indivdual DVD's and has little or no personality. When I buy a
boxed set I want something different. I for one, hope Carlton keep
releasing the boxed set in this vein.

Well, I have mixed feelings really - I was disappointed to see
people criticise the Carlton UFO digipacks so heavily because it was
obvious that a lot of work had gone into it - the artwork is superb
and the overall effect is of something quite lavish.

But having lived with the UFO box sets for a few months I DO think
the UFO digipack adds a touch of class, but it's at the expense of
convenience. It's fiddly to open, and it _will_ get tatty with
continued use.

I agree, the Carlton packaging looks great. The main problem I have
with it is the little plastic things which hold the DVD's in place.
They don't seem to work well, and the DVD's keep falling out. I
notice that the TF1 DVD digipak uses a different mechanism to
hold the DVDs in place, and it seems to work much better.

P.S. As is usual, this new computer upgrade is as painful as ever,
if not moreso. Seems that the video card doesn't always recognize
that I have a monitor plugged into it, so I'm already considering
buying a better video card. Also, I tried updating to the current
version of the operating system, which brought the entire system
down and made it unusable. I'm now back to the old operating
system, and will be staying there for the time being!

Looking on the bright side, I put the TF1 UFO DVDs into the
DVD player, and it played just fine! :-)
