LONG SLEEP

I know the British DVD sets have been out for a while, so there's probably
been a lot said on this already, but personally I think the best thing to
happen with Set 2 was the re-mastering on THE LONG SLEEP.

I don't know what it was like abroad, but on the UK vids and TV showings
before it was remastered, everything had this kind of pink fuzzy glow - made
it really difficult to watch. There was a feeling of great joy when I
turned on the DVD for eth first time and could actually see things clearly!

One thing though - could somebody please explain to a poor, slow ex-tour
guide - what is going on at the end of this episode? Why does Catherine
Ross/Frazer/whatever turn into an old woman and die at the end? I'm
probably being really thick here, but I just didn't get that.

I haven't seen that episode in years -- but if it's the girl that was in the
"Long Sleep" (coma) -- maybe the aliens had her in suspended animation and
when they were destroyed she started to age again?

I dunno. :)

Well, as we saw in the flashback sequences, Tim jumped off the
farmhouse roof and died in 1970. The Aliens brought him back
to life using some mysterious mechanism that transferred 50 years
of lifespan from Catherine to Tim. When Tim completed his
task, his living on "borrowed time" stopped, and he died and decomposed
to the level that he should have been without the
Alien's help. And Catherine aged the total number of years
that the Alien's would have allowed Tim to keep looking for
the mechanism.

But don't try to think about it too hard -- like TIMELASH,
it just doesn't make a whole lot of sense if analyzed too
closely.

Hmmm, I think it was cuz that guy was using her years to lengthen his
life. He had been killed all those years before and the aliens somehow
brought him to life using her life force so he could get the bomb thing
back. (Yeah, like that row boat is gonna still be tied at that same spot
20 years later <rolling eyes>)
