Let's not pull rank

Lately, I've been watching the DVD episodes of UFO, and reading the
Complete Book... to supplement said episodes, and a funny thing
occurred to me. In the cast lists for each episode, it seems to me
that any member of SHADO personnel other than Straker, Freeman, Ford
or Lake is a Lieutenant! I'd hate to be a mere Private in SHADO -
I'd be outnumbered!

Hello. Maybe in order to be in SHADO you have to have at least the rank of
lieutenant. What about all the technicians? i have only watched my dvds once.

Same here - I got my UFO DVDs for Xmas, and am working my way through them. It's a thought that occurred to me that while we see a lot of SHADO personnel, I can't recall most of them being assigned ranks, other than if Straker calls them by such, for example "Lt. Ford, come into my office". For example, Ayshea appears throughout the series, but (correct me if I'm wrong) I can't remember her being referred to by name or rank. In the end titles she's usually referred to as "SHADO Operative".

Near the end of THE SOUND OF SILENCE, Straker talks to her over the
intercom, and calls her Lt. Johnson.

Interesting to note about Ayshea is that she weore that silver chain
with the big bulky 'A' hanging from her neck in every episode. I
assume this was her personal jewelry OKed for use in the series.
(Odd, since SHADO is set up as a military oganization and jewelry
like that worn by Ayshea would be a strict 'no-no').

BTW, is Ayshea the UFO actress who is married to Michael Caine?

No, that was Shakira Baksh the actress who was standing behind the see thru
mirror in the first episode Identified as Gabrielle Drake changed her uniform
in the other room. Ayshea has been married to several different people over
the years, among them her first husband who was named Brough, a film producer
named Levy. She has also used the last name Leigh and is of the last time I
saw anything new about her using he name Ayshea Dehauilland.

I am just guessing. I think they allowed Ayshea to wear her jewelry because
she is listed in the credits as Ayshea. If she was a famous model at the time
it might have been a coup to get her at all. scott

I'll have to have another look at Square Triangle, I only just saw it
a few weeks ago, too! I'll keep a close eye out whenever she appears
in other episodes.
