Maybe most of you already know this, but not myself. Recently I bought a dvd of the older version of The Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy. The dvd features tons of extras. On disc two the feature name the Douglas Adams Omnibus showed what was the UFO Lunar Module being blow up in a old Brit sitcom called " Out Of The Trees". This was a FX effect that really look like the Module prop was actually destroyed! Does anyone know anything about this? I'm curious to know if this was the actual prop. Martin Michael

To my understanding the U.K. sitcom " Out of the Trees" was a short live series made in 1974 by Douglas Adams. The actor who played Auther Dent in the HitchHikers Guide stared in it. The video clip I saw showing a Lunar Module being destroyed is one of the features of the "HitchHikers Guide To The Galaxy" dvd put out by the BBC in 2002. As Gordon mention there are other props. This Lunar Module was probaly one of many. Martin

Does anyone know anything about this? I'm curious to know if this was the actual prop. Martin Michael ------------- I believe when Century 21 studios were shutting down and throwing everything out that Ian Scoones (who worked there in the 60's) and Mat Irvine of the BBC fx unit went there in a van and loaded up with stuff they could use. If you watch the Dr Who story Frontier in Space you can see a heavily modified lunar module and the space capsule from "The Man Who Came Back" (in fact you see more of it than in the UFO episode!). I'm a bit undecided whether the space limpet bomb is in it as well as a spaceship from Joe 90. So yes I believe that the lunar module in "Out of the Trees" was probably one of the props from UFO but I cannot find this clip on my disc (there is nothing called Douglas Adams Omnibus on mine). As to whether they blew the model up I cannot say. Chiz, Barrington |
