Naive Question

I know that the "Photo Gallery" section in the DVDs is not the
greatest and that what they show is actually frame captures from the
episodes. Why is it then that all of the images look distorted? It's
like they have stretched the images to the sides (and thus the
actors sometimes look like they have a "fat" face. Just wondering.
It would seem silly to introduce the distortion on purpose.

I've wondered about that too. I thought maybe it only did that cuz I'm
watching on my computer - is the same on a regular DVD player, then?

So is this just a problem on the A&E DVDs? The Carlton ones don't seem to
be distorted. Not on my computer at least. They're too small to bother
looking through on the TV.
