New Australian DVD's

Disappointing.

Nothing on the modelling,Century 21, special effects side.

No interviews with the likes of Shubrook,Wingrove,Berry,Whittaker-Cook,Camp,Trim or Wragg.
No model maker interviews.As many shots of special effects sequences did not go according to plan where are the thousands of feet of rushes gone.Surely not all destroyed.

We are spoiled with interviews with the likes of the main actors,producers etc.In many ways however there is really nothing new here (except perhaps the interview with the late George Sewell),while some of the extras are just pointless.

Agreed. If you own the Carlton and A&E R1 sets and the Fanderson
documentary, then there is no justification for triple-dipping.

I can't believe that anyone would call that list of extras "disappointing".
I rent DVD's all the time, and for the most part, there are very few
extras. Sometimes none.

This is a HUGE amount of extras for an obscure, 40-year old TV show.
And certainly more than any previous effort (UK, US, France, Italy,
Japan, Germany)

Just the 2 new commentaries make it worthwhile for me...

Hmmm, I would think that if there was any interesting missing footage
left, we would have seen it on the UK DVD set, or on the Fanderson documentary.
I think most everything was thrown away, either at the time of the filming
of the series, or during a rumored "purge" that took place in the 1990's
when Polygram owned the ITC catalog.

I agree that more extras would be nice, but one usually has to justify
these with a "business case" -- that is, will spending thousands of dollars
on a certain extra feature bring in that much more in sales?

and also Spain (where half of the series was made available
by JRB -- which then decided not to issue the second half of
the series).

Hi All :)

I'm just relieved and grateful for any new things that have anything
to do with UFO. It takes ages to get publishing permissions and
frankly to get actors to comment on a series they were involved with
35+ years back is a real special bonus - especially that an
increasingly greater number are no longer with us.

Knowing some actors, it amazes me that many of the people in UFO can
remember anything at all. UFO must have made a real special
impression. I know some actors that couldn't tell you much anything
that they were involved with just a few years back. Jobing actors are
just that... they go from role to role, remember their lines, and then
just get on with the next job...

So, congrats Umbrella, and anyone else that goes to the trouble to
create anything new.

I hope these negative reactions will not influence the publisher not to publish the set. I, myself am looking forward to buying it. I hope they realise, whatever they do, they can't make everybody happy...

Fortunately, I don't think we have any influence on anybody... :-)

And certainly Umbrella Entertainment is under no obligation to
produce the best-ever version of UFO on DVD. They simply are
releasing a version for the Australian market. If they wanted to,
they could have released a version with no special features at all...

And certainly, some of the criticisms of this release I've
read here and elsewhere are a bit silly. In some cases, people
are wanting features that simply don't exist (more deleted
scenes, isolated music track, 5.1 surround version remixed
from original isolated tracks, etc.)
