New Members

Marc,

I've been noticing the membership number going up over the holiday
period - now 914 :-)

What's confusing me is there has never been any "new members" listed -
normally it'll say eg. "4 New Members" underneath the membership
number.

Are people joining without this happening, because they're not "real"
members or something? Just wondering :-)

Sarah, could you reword this question? I don't understand what you

On my Yahoo! Groups page, this group appears like this (words only)


SHADO

46 New Messages
1 New File 913 moonbasegirl [hidden email]



The current membership number is 913, which shows that new members
have been joining, yet on the far left, normally between the number
of New Messages and New Files it would say "X" New Members, but there
isn't anything!  

I was curious about this and wanted to ask you if it meant there
actually weren't any new members at all, but the total membership
number has been increasing, perhaps for some other reason?

Ahhh, I understand your question.

I have SHADO setup to hide the list membership, so I guess when this
is done, it also doesn't bother to state how many new members there
are, because you wouldn't be able to see who they are.

Since I'm the list moderator, when I look at my "My Groups" page,
it *does* say "9 New Members" for SHADO, and I can click on that
and see who they are, and they look like they are real people to me...

I see :-) But you didn't always hide them though(?) I never
realised that it would have been possible to see who new members
were!

I think when you did your "clearout" the number fell to about 890 or
so. It was 915 when I signed in just now. Maybe some of these new
members have been seeing UFO for the very first time on ITV 4! :-)
Perhaps as list owner Marc, you might like to encourage them to
introduce themselves?

I'm not meaning to seem nosey, just this insatiable curiosity of
mine :-D

Hello, I recently joined and I am - as far as I'm
aware - a real person. I loved UFO first time round,
and Hubby bought me the Season 1 DVD boxset for
Christmas, which gave me the enthusiasm to seek out
this list. Real life is very busy so I'm unlikely to
do much but lurk, but I thought I'd just say hello.

I haven't changed any of the settings, but Yahoo does change the
way YahooGroups work from time-to-time.

I believe that all new members are sent an introductory message,
where it states that people are welcome to introduce themselves
to the group and tell us about their interest in UFO. I'd think
that anything beyond that would be getting pushy... :-)

I think virtually any money would have been the right money to be honest;
Ed Bishop was a jobbing actor and a role in a soap would have been
extremely welcome I'm sure.

The only UFO actor I can think of who ever appeared in one of the soaps
regularly is Patrick Mower (from Square Triangle). He was in Emmerdale
a few years ago; maybe he still is, no idea.
