Nice one Amelia ;-)
It was quite plausible, and even had me going for a second... you pressed all the right (or should I say wrong buttons ;-) ...Yes, I can quite that believe that those wacky folks in Hollywood would contemplate using Robin Williams, but I knew the game was up with Britney (she would look very nice in Moonbase uniform :-) ...however, I could feel my blood pressure rising (for all the right... and wrong reasons), so well done! I hope 'they' will do a sequel (not a remake) much like with Star Trek Next Gen... that would at least not undermine the original and best, give the concept some continuance, and also wouldn't trample on 'we' original UFO fans too much... Ed would sure make a GREAT General! ...they could get Steven Berkoff to direct - that would give it some Zest!!! Happy Birthday Gabrielle!!! Best to all... Griff -----Original Message----- From: cmdrstraker2001 [mailto:[hidden email]] Sent: Monday, April 01, 2002 7:23 PM To: [hidden email] Subject: [SHADO] New UFO movie sucks Can you believe this garbage, you guys? Have you seen this article on the net? My comments at the end. (article starts) Los Angeles (Associated Press) Old aliens out, new aliens in. UFO's attack again by Diana Kincaid Remember that old 70's sci-fi series UFO with the purple headed babes and the flying saucers? No? Consider yourself in the majority. However, Hollywood bigwigs do, and recently bought the rights from Carlton to do a remake of the old Gerry Anderson series. Gerry Anderson, famous for his marionettes, won't be pulling the strings this time. The series will have new faces, aimed at bringing a much coveted youth audience. In the lead role of Commander Ed Straker, moneymaking funny guy Robin Williams. Contacted for his opinion, the previous aging actor who played Straker, a no longer pretty boy Ed Bishop, said merely that he was disappointed and he felt die-hard UFO fans would be too. In the role of purple-haired babe Gay Ellis, the popular songstress Britney Spears. As Alec Freeman, Russell Crowe. Virginia Lake, Reba McEntire . Other big name stars will be cast as plans for the big screen flick go on. The music for the remake will be done by Enya, with some vocals by such rap artists as Eminem and Dr Dre. Wardrobe is reported to be worked on by Tommy Hilfinger. A director hasn't been decided on at this time. The unnamed film company was encouraged by the success of the recent UFO DVD's in the UK, and they say that remakes are in. They hope to release the flick by Summer 2004. If only they could do something about those bizarre wigs. (article ends) Scroll for my personal comments. Its not real. Happy April Fools, everyone <VBG> Amelia (who had fun making it all up, but may have scared people to death with the idea of Robin Williams and Britney Spears as Ed and Gay <g> I added the remark about my precious Ed's looks to further disguise that I made up the article. If anyone actually said that about Ed, I'd break their kneecaps, and most of EBF would help me do it. ) Your use of Yahoo! Groups is subject to http://docs.yahoo.com/info/terms/ |

You are a cruel person Amelia.
Glad to hear it was just a April Fools gag. But now what am I going to do with all this special cyanide tipped hollow points ammo I got to take out the studio executives? James K. [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] |
