Hello

My name is Mark.I live in Hereford in the UK.
As a boy my favourite TV program was UFO.At the time to say I was obsessed by it was an understatement.

It absorbed my waking thoughts ,at times maybe unhealthily so.
Why it captivated me so readily is hard to explain.The most fascinating attraction was the actual model of the UFO itself whose design I thought was inspirational
and totally infuriating,mainly because my efforts to reproduce its beguilling
structure were always inaccurate.

Now of course I know its characteristics,but in 1970 to try and figure out how Derek
Meddings model actually looked was extremely hard to determine.
Eventually around 1974 I filmed the TV using super 8mm.The episode "The Psychobombs" was the most revealing in this repect.
A friend and myself at the time built our version f the model out of the very shiny
almost chrome bottomed biscuit tins our parents usually bought at christmas.
We even built a plaster of paris mould with which we successfully created the see thru plastic outer shells

But we never quite got it right.The real secret of the model is the true chrome effect body ,which I would love to know how to reproduce.Very shiny silver paint never acheives the same effect.
If anyone knows the process used to create this model I would love to know.
Shed,s recent model was very,very good but it lacked this final killer finish.

But I did,nt just love the model,the whole concept of UFO and its format
was brilliant.
Now to see the magnificence of it in progressive scan DVD video on my computer screen is unbelievable ( I have just purchased the 13 episode boxed set from my local Woolworths)
I could go on and on but its 2am in the morning so I think I,ll go to bed.So bye for now and good to be in the group.
