Hi all,
Danny Doyle has provided me with another scan from an issue of the UK "FAB 208" magazine, this time from an October 1973 issue, with the subject matter being Straker's car: http://ufoseries.com/magazines/fab208car.jpg Marc |
Hello all,
November issue of SFX has it's fair amount of UFO content. First, there is lengthy article about ITC, it's people and projects, wich has a lot of UFO related material: a few top lists (UFO is placed 5th on the best titles list, and Lieutennant Ellis is sexiest of the ITC ladies). Also, there is a bw picture of Moonbase personell that I never saw so far. Other than that, there is article in which a few people watches movies and episodes with a common subject, this time subjesct being cats, so "Cat with ten lives" gets a coverage with a few screengrabs and "funny" comments. I didn't buy the issue, just flicked through it, so there may be more, but I'm not sure. Hi All :)
Does anyone know anything about the rock music that is playing when Paul Foster arrives at Tina Duval's apartment? Best to all :) Griff [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] |

Griff -- the rock music that Tina Duval is listening to is "My Life

Hi all,
During the second part of the 70's I was fascinated with many things, and among them, Amicus' productions of "The Land that Time Forgot" and its sequel "The People that Time forgot", based on the books by Edgar Rice Burroughs. I haven't seen the movies in a long time and recently acquired them on DVD. Time has taken it's toll... BUT... Among the impressive cast of the second movie - including Sarrah Douglas ("Superman" I & II, "V"), Patrick Wayne (Sinbad ant the Eye of the Tiger) and an actor from Star Wars - there was Shane Rimmer (you all know who he is) in a meaningful role. After watching the movie, I decided to watch the trailer for the movie, and there he was: narating the trailer, you couldn't mistake his distinctive voice - Ed Bishop!!! Well spotted Branko! :-D Are you able to provide a sound clip? Ed did so many voiceovers after UFO; his wonderful voice earned his living doing these and commercial radio advertising, enabling him to "pick and choose" his acting roles. With so many more obscure movies and TV series becoming available on DVD, maybe more of these will be 'found'? On EdBishopFans group a member recently found a video of Ed's appearance from 'Top of the Pops' from 1981. I could post the link here if anyone's interested, although obviously anyone is welcome to join! Hope you'll forgive me the 'plug' for EBF Marc.... ;-) Sarah --- In [hidden email], "Branko Vekic" <brave66@...> wrote: >During the second part of the 70's I was fascinated with many >things, and among them, Amicus' productions of "The Land that Time >Forgot" and its sequel "The People that Time forgot", <snip> >After watching the movie, I decided to watch the trailer for the >movie, and there he was: narating the trailer, you couldn't mistake >his distinctive voice - Ed Bishop!!! |

What do I click on to to be able to view? :-) It's a BitTorrent link, and you may not be familiar how to use that. I tried using my BitTorrent client to download this file, and it *is* downloading, but at the current rate it may take 6 months to download the complete file... :-) (if I do ever download the complete file, I'll turn it into a smaller Quicktime movie downloadable via the web) Marc |

Was anyone but me shocked at the complete change in his voice when he did the commentary on "Sub Smash?" If I hadn't known who it was, I never would've recognized him. My wife and I watched this episode just last week, and she agreed with me. Granted he was older, but that distinctive quality seemed completely gone. Was he in good health at the point he recorded it? He seemed mentally fine, at least. |

> did the commentary on "Sub Smash?" A lot of people have commented on this in the past. One theory is that he wasn't feeling well on the day it was recorded, or they had fed him a huge lunch just prior to recording and he was kind of sleepy. I know that something was wrong, because I met Ed months after this was recorded, and his voice sounded fine to me. Another thing to consider is that if you are listening to the A&E (USA release) version of that commentary, it has been slowed down by 4% to take into account the difference in the episode speed between the UK and US version of the episode. His voice does sound a little more lively on the UK version of the commentary. Marc |

Also, watch this Quicktime clip -- it features Ed Bishop recorded around the same time as that DVD commentary (2000): http://ufoseries.com/movieClips/mrThund7.mov He does certainly sound older in this clip, but perhaps not as bad as he sounded in the commentary? Marc |
His commentary was recorded for the UK edition and ported to the US
DVDs - which slows it down due to the different recording speeds. Haven't we covered this pretty extensively? Maybe it should be added to the FAQ at your site, Marc. Hello all,
I am sorry if I complicated things for you, but it seemed the best thing to do at the moment - I don't know how to transfer DVD's to quicktime, and then if I had a quicktime ready, I wouldn't know what to do with it then, again, put it on torrent. So: you should install BitTorrent (download from http://www.bittorrent.com/download.html) or some other program that handles torrents, and then click to the torrent on the page you already clicked. after that, everything goes automatically - You just wait (but it can be a bit long). More about the subject from our beloved Wikipedia at: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BitTorrent Sorry if this is a bit OT And All the best, Branko _________________________________________________________________ FREE pop-up blocking with the new MSN Toolbar - get it now! http://toolbar.msn.click-url.com/go/onm00200415ave/direct/01/ |

That's okay... we'll get that turned into a quicktime movie soon enough... :-) And thanks for noting that the Hi-Def versions of Space:1999 are available on Demonoid! I note that the file sizes for these are about 1.5 GB, which is about the same as the file sizes on a DVD containing 4 one-hour episodes. However, these files use MPEG-4 encoding, which is more efficient than the MPEG-2 encoding used on DVDs... It would indeed be interested if some High-Def versions of UFO show up as a torrent... (since I have no other way to see a High-Def TV show right now other than on my computer) Marc |

Okay, I've downloaded the trailer for "The People That Time Forgot"
(narrated by Ed Bishop), and have turned it into a small Quicktime movie: http://ufoseries.com/forgot.mov Thanks Branko! (sounds like some of those explosion sound effects are from UFO, too!) Marc |
while this isn't exactly UFO related like the names of the movie in the subject, or its prequel Land that time forgot. I also like 'At the earths core' and 'The last dinosaur' growing up ;).
If anyone familiar with At the earths core, can you connect it to UFO? :) Bruce [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] |
