I have watched 10 episodes of the new version. I am undecided in my
opinion as to how the new shows compare and/or live up to the original.
I feel the voice acting in the original was better. When I started
watching the new shows, I had hoped the voice actors would loosen up a
bit as they went along, but even at episode 10 I don't feel they have
changed much. Perhaps they recorded the full season in just a few
sessions, I don't know.
The animation is pretty good, but could be better. I do 3D modeling
myself and see a lot of shortcuts being used, however I have seen worse.
I don't know if they are using motion capture or are manually rigging
the models. I haven't had time to read up on the production details. (If
anyone has a link that covers the behind the scenes animation work, I
would be interested.)
All in all, I am enjoying the series and hope it continues, if for no
other reason than hoping Gerry Anderson's other shows (UFO) may see a
revival because of any success Captain Scarlet may have.
SIG!
