Hello fellow SHADOites. My friend and I have watched and loved
Gerry and Sylvia Anderson shows since we where kids back in the 60's. So you would think that we would be up on all the trivia. We have a Thunderbirds question. Can anyone please tell us, what does FAB stand for ??? Since she and I are the only Anderson fans in Connecticut we can't get anybody to sympathize blight. Thanks guys !!! :-) |
FAB was the British word for "Cool" in the mid '60's. Gerry Anderson has
said that F.A.B. was simply a way to incorporate a trendy word into the Thunderbirds nomenclature and actually does not stand for anything. AT "Bill " wrote: > > Hello fellow SHADOites. Gerry Anderson is quoted as saying that FAB doesn't/didn't stand for
anything. FAB was just a cool thing to say back in the sixties: "Hey, it's really fab... man" His comments regarding FAB are quite widespread. I think there may be a couple of references to it on Marks site and I think on the Fanderson site (please excuse me if those sources aren't right) -----Original Message----- From: Bill <[hidden email]> [mailto:[hidden email]] Sent: Tuesday, December 17, 2002 5:24 PM To: [hidden email] Subject: [SHADO] Please help my co-worker and I with a long standing question Hello fellow SHADOites. Thanks guys > !!! :-) Gerry Anderson has gone on record as stating that it doesn't stand for anything at all. They simply took a currently-overused word, fab, and appropriated it. The word was much used in England at that time, particularly with regard to the 'Mersey sound' scene, as in the Beatles' 'Fab Four' label. Dave. |
