The same thing happened to me, I mentioned it back in message # 6084, now I'm just counting the days. :-) The wife thinks I'm crazy with all this UFO stuff but I put her in her place when I told her how much her S1999 complete DVD set cost. BTW: Now that I have had it a while I can give you the 30 second review on the Daewoo DVD player. (DVG-9000n) It's a fine player and the region selection is super easy. A hack is available for permanent code-free mode as well as Macrovision disabling but I have not installed that yet. The PAL-NTSC conversion does work but it is the cheap kind you described Marc, It results in a moire in the image that is prominent on bright edges particularly near but not on the horizontal, but it's tolerable everywhere else. It doesn't cut into the viewability too badly on an old glass-tube or projection TV, but it would be positively horrendous if I had one of those awesome plasma displays. The 9000 also supports all of the varieties of dolby surround as well as coax and fiber. (must be a dozen or more connectors back there only 3 of which I am using at the moment) The 9000 also accepts 50/60hz and 100-240VAC on the same plug without so-much as a switch to flip. I definitely recommend the Daewoo DVG-X000n players for someone anywhere who doesn't want to spend a ton on their player, it does the job for casual use and cost me $161 US in toto from Amazon. (The 3000 has been on sale in some stores for as low as $80 I hear.) "GOT*SKY?" Actually, just on a technical note - I believe the plasma displays actually give a less detailed/clear picture than conventional glass CRTs (certainly the ones I've seen appear to anyway). So it might actually be quite watchable, in the sense that the interference pattern might not show up too much. James |
According to the digitalbits.com site, A&E will be releasing UFO on July 30.
I'll be checking to see the A&E site shortly to see if any mention of this is at their site. http://www.thedigitalbits.com/#mytwocents Ron |

The differences in the players appears to be just bells and
whistles. The cores of the machines seem to be the same for the important things: Multi-region and built-in PAL/NTSC converter (even if it isn't the best). Amazon sold bushels (sold-out) of the 3000's for $100US, the 5000 at $130US and the 9000 at $150US before christmas. I got the 9000 mostly because it was the first one to come back in stock. The secret menu on the 3000 is accessed differently than on the 9000 though just as easily, instructions are here: http://www.dvd-wizards.com/darrenk/Daewoo_DVG3000N/DVG-3000Npatch.htm In some ways the 3000 may actually be better believe it or not. The 9000 has few on-panel buttons, the 3000 has many, so a lost remote control renders nearly all of the features of the 9000 unreachable. --- In SHADO@y..., Yuchtar <yuchtr@e...> wrote: > <SNIP> > Okay <leaning closer> And is the 3000 just as good as the 9000????? > > -- Y, who definitely wants a dvd player .... > > > -- > =+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+= > Yuchtar zantai-Klaan | yuchtr@e... > I am not a number! Found a Helen Weber story while looking for something else..
<cough, cough> I don't remember anyone mentionning that one, so I'm including the addy here. <waving at the Librarian> :-) It's a Johnny Quest/UFO crossover. http://www.angelfire.com/realm/jonnyquest/fics/Danger.html Also, the guy over there (I wonder if it's anyone we know ;-) http://www.mustangnet.com.au/news/features/movie_mustangs_list.htm mentions his Edness' Mustang. Says it was yellow! 8- I seem to remember that part of the ep was in black & white or sepia. So, how come he knows what color the thing was!? 8-) --Impressed Anny :-) |
