Does anybody know if this list still going? It seemed to be for all of Gerry Anderson's work. Sarah (UK) |

I think it has been busier on the list than it is now... there may have also been more enthusiasm back then, because it was a new mailing list, and the Internet itself was rather new to people. Also, back in the 1990s we had a lot of people building their own UFO websites, which is not something you see today. Ironically, the discussions seemed to start to wane AFTER the UFO DVDs were released! > There are some for a list "FAB-L". Does anybody know if this > list still going? It seemed to be for all of Gerry Anderson's work. I don't think FAB-L is still going, and I'm not really sure what list would be good for *all* of Gerry's work -- it seems like the lists are mostly splintered off by series (just as well, as I'm sure there are people who like one series more than the others) Marc |

Many thanks James for these. Is there a simple way of saving them to my own PC? I seem to be unable to save them "en masse", perhaps I have to open each one and save?? Sorry - clueless!! Looking forward to seeing more! Sarah |

When archiving a discussion group, I wonder if it's a good idea to place every message on single page? Yahoo does this, but I find it rather cumbersome. Other email lists I've been on archive an entire month's worth of messages into a single file, or sometimes *all* of the past discussions into a single file, which can be a huge download, but also can also allow one to put the file into a text editor and do a search. No simple way to downloading them en masse, I'm afraid. But because the main index for each of the main directories redirects to the first mail index, which represents only a subset of the mail archive for each year, a simple browser 'save as' download won't do the trick, unfortunately. I don't think it would do a full recursive download either, following all the links. James -- Dig It : a forum for Euro Beatles fans - http://beatles.dyndns.org/ |

[g] Um, am I right in thinking then that these links go to another site, where the posts can be read? If so, are they going to be there for a while? I'm asking because it might take me some time to work through them, then I guess I can save each one as I read it, if wanted. You guys have been fantastic to do all the work necessary to put the old FAB archives up on the net. A big thank you! The only period missing would be January 1997 to May 1998. If anyone has these stored away, can they be put up somewhere, sometime? Bye for now, Sarah |

No, they are all on the same site; on a webserver under my desk in my study, in fact! > If so, are they going to be there for a while? Yes, I'll leave them there for a month or two at least, I should think - unless they become spectacularly popular and chew up my monthly transfer allowance, but since they are only text and don't take up too much bandwidth, I don't anticipate a problem. > You guys have been fantastic to do all the work necessary to put the > old FAB archives up on the net.
