I REMEMBER READING IN A SCI FI MAG THE COLOR OF THE LUNAR MODUL IS A BURNED ORANGE.

The burnt orange stacks up with what I had heard. But I was hoping
that some one could pin it down a little more precisely, like the Skydiver colour has been confirmed as Ford metallic oyster gold, which is still available as spray-on, touch-up paint at Halfords. The reason I'm asking for the exact paint finish (apart from the obvious) of the original lunar module/carrier? Is if the colour is not now commercially available (which is highly probably), that should not present me with a problem. As I have I have a contact in a paint company in Southport, and as such can get 500ml cans of spray paint made to order, for a very reasonable £14.99 per can. For instance I was finding the Ford Oyster Gold from Halfords too glossy, so I commisioned some cans with a more matting agent, which is all but perfect for a smaller scale replica. So as long as I can identify the exact colour I can get it made. Ideally it would be nice to get the RAL No, but I accept that is pretty unlikley. However, a Car colour would be a good second best. I know this is not a modelling forum, but I'm aware there are a lot of people who are in the know that can hopefully can point me in the right direction. I appreciate this is not a modelling forum so I'll close before I get thrown off:-) Hoping someone can help Cheers Russell --- In SHADO@y..., stevezoony@j... wrote: > I REMEMBER READING IN A SCI FI MAG THE COLOR OF THE LUNAR MODUL IS A BURNED ORANGE. > > > > > ________________________________________________________________ > GET INTERNET ACCESS FROM JUNO! > Juno offers FREE or PREMIUM Internet access for less! > Join Juno today! >BURNED ORANGE. Burnt orange? Seems to me that it's some sort of dark red... although it's true - it's difficult to tell what the real color was from the DVDs or photographs, as it varies depending on the lighting, the film, the developing, etc... The worst case of this color variation (to me) has always seemed to be Skydiver/Sky One, which often appears in photographs and onscreen to be green, even though it was really more of a brown/gold color... My hunch is to go with the better lit scenes but, I don't know that's why I'm asking if any one knows:-) |

Try asking your questions at the Culttvman.com sci fi modeling forum at www.hobbytalk.com
Take a look at www.culttvman.com as well, the biggest sf modeling site on the web for inspiration and info. AT hopkirk_marty wrote: > > The burnt orange stacks up with what I had heard. Kinda been down that line, culttvman is a GREAT site but is heavily stacked towards Star Trek, Star Wars and Irwin Allen. Hobby talk is another good site but tends to lean towards straight forward RC modelling. The best site in my opinion is www.starshipmodeler.com at least they have a UFO page. But still has a distinct leaning towards the aforementioned. I was hoping by posting here, there was someone in the know, but not necessarily a modeller. I find as a modeller, that often that best sources of info can be the non modelling fraternity. It's a case of broadening of ones approach. Here's still hoping some has knowledge of the colour of the LM. Marty |

Well Marty, all content on CultTvman is submitted by modelers like yourself, so if there is not enough UFO stuff for you there, how about submitting some? Same thing with Hobbytalk... if you don't ask the question there, you won't get any answers. CultTvman is my partner and I am on the UFO list and a huge Gerry Anderson fan. I have a closetful of kits that I don't have time to build, which is why none of my work is on the site yet. I just want to emphasize that there are plenty of people who would love to see more GA related info and models at the site. Anthony Taylor |
Anthony, in essence you are correct, in that I should explore these avenues more directley. What I did'nt make clear and probably only alluded to was, I'm fully aware of these sites and do keep a eye on them already. The point I was trying to make (badly)is it sometimes good to explore non modelling forums as these can be an exceptional source of information. Maybe some day, somebody will start a GA modelling forum with a UFO bias. Until then we will have to hunt around where ever we can to get this elusive detail. Anthony, yes that is a good idea and in due course I will persue it.
It sometimes pays to ask the other than the non modellers for information. It is quite suprising how little nuggets turn up from time to time. Hi all,
In France, TF1 Video will be releasing UFO on DVD in one box (7 DVDs) on July 1st! Here's a link: http://www.cinestore.com/html/fiche_produits.php?groupe=1&page=1&id=13515 I don't have any information on special features... although perhaps it's available somewhere online? Marc |
I'm reading (And getting pretty excited) about some of the extra features
of the Space 1999 TF1 releases as they will include Message From Moonbase Alpha (The short film that appeared at the 1999 and 2000 conventions!) I also read that the french dubs are the ones done in 1975 for the French Canadian dub of the series. More info here for the 1999 release http://www.space1999.net/catacombs/main/merc/vmnow.html Are the French dubs for the UFO release also French Canadian? I have a set of UFO in French Canadian from an old tape trading friend from years ago and I wonder if they will be the same. Also do you think there will be more extras than already available on the region 2 release for UFO? The R2 release is VERY impressive, from the menus and the cute animation to the commentary by GA and the missing scenes. Anything TF1 putting in that Carlton is skipping? I can't imagine what they could add besides the UFO documentary and I doubt that since Fanderson will be releasing the documentaries on DVD. Oh, I could think of several things they could add... :-) The website states something about a "Making Of"... this might be something new. Also, I had heard that they were working on some of their own extras, which would be in addition to what's on the UK release. And I suspect that A&E might be also doing something extra, although it might not show up until Box #2. And it might also depend on how well Box #1 sells... Marc |

You forgot to mention that one of the extras for the French Space:1999 DVD's is an entire episode of UFO! ("Survival") How's that for an "extra"? :-) Marc |

I read through most of the info quickly (It's been an aggravating week here) mostly interested in Message from Moonbase Alpha which if most fans buy the set for I could be the most expensive 7 minute film ever! : - ) Why survival? Is it because of the Moonbase? Why not Identified? At any rate it looks like I'll be buying some French Space 1999 DVD's unless A&E announce MFMBA on their last DVD sets. |
